Forums - Sales - Knack outsells Super Mario 3D World in UK

Just so, you know, to verify something... How many people in this thread have played knack more than, let's say 10 minutes ?

Because, when I see some people that keep saying that knack is a mediocre game... Ouch. Everyone here know how harsh I am on game and how hard I am on them, but you can trust me, Knack is way, WAY better than Mario 3D world (wich is already good in itself).

You liked Crash bandicoot 3 warped ? I liked it too.
You like the main Spyro serie ? I liked it too.
You liked Banjo and Kazooie ? I liked it too.
You like Sly Raccoon ? I liked it too.

Knack is three or five time better than those games. And I'm not taking technical question in accoumpt. Of course the game looks way better than them, but I'm just speaking about gameplay.

If you don't believe me, just go to youtube and make an opinion from gameplay video. This game is very good.

The only two things that are true is that the game is a little hard for children. Strong chance that you'll find it hard too. And the other true thing is that the gameplay's ideas are not that groundshaking for someone like Cerny. But those two things put aside, Knack is all that you can except for a game like this, really.

downplay this as much as you want. doesn't change the fact that this is indeed a negative sign for wiiu.

Let's do a thread comparing sales between Killzone: Shadow Fall and Mario 3D World...

Not surprising when you take into account the Wii U LTD numbers there and the fact that Knack is a launch game.

Anyway, debut at 14, flop. Flopping everywhere and it's moving like almost zero consoles.

It's worth pointing out that we don't have actual numbers, so we can't tell how well or poorly it did. Super Mario Galaxy, in its launch week in Europe, sold 154k copies (we don't have UK numbers for Galaxy's launch week). Super Mario 3D Land sold 144k copies in its first week in Europe, and of that, UK represented 43k copies. If we suppose that PS4's week 1 sales are similar to those of the Xbox One (152k units) as a rough idea, then for 3D World to have performed comparably to Galaxy and 3D Land (both of which have sold quite well on their respective systems, and can't possibly be called flops), one would expect that Knack would have needed to sell to roughly a quarter of PS4 purchasers.

The point I'm making here is, it debuted at 14 because it was released at the same time as a new console launch, and a week after another new console launch.

Note that Super Mario 3D Land debuted at 9th in the UK. It has now sold 8.7 million copies worldwide and 560,000 copies in the UK.

So it's definitely too early to call the game a flop.

Despite it being the launch of a very highly-anticipated console, 3D World's chart placement is really, really poor.

Yes Yes... And Cod outsells nearly every game out there in its first week...

But yes... it is sad

Galaxy was number 3 in the UK on launch week, behind Assassin's Creed 360 (launch week) and CoD4 360 (second week).  Galaxy 2 was number 1.  3D Land had AC:R, SR3, Halo HD, and Zelda SS all launching the same week.  It was also ahead of things like FIFA and Just Dance while 3D World is behind them.

None of those games were up against a console launch, let alone two of them. As you say, 3D Land had AC:R, SR3, Halo HD, and Zelda SS all launching the same week... 3D World has every PS4 launch title launching the same week.

Let's try a slightly different way of looking at it, shall we? Dead Rising 3 released on the Xbox One at launch in both the US and the UK. In the US, it sold about 168k. In the UK, it sold about 34k. In the US, Knack sold about 102k, which should correspond, roughly, to about 21k in the UK, assuming the US-to-UK launch sales are roughly proportional for the two systems. That is weaker than 3D Land, true. But 3D Land was released when the 3DS had sold 560k units in the UK. The Wii U is, to date, at around 195k units. So for it to sell around half the number of copies (and 3D Land had 5 days to sell in, whereas 3D World has had 2 days) isn't bad at all.

You are ignoring actual numbers and focusing on positions. That's like judging a runner's ability purely based on the position they came in one particular race, rather than the time they ran it in.

In fact, since you're judging it based purely on week 1 numbers, it's like trying to compare a marathon runner with a group of sprinters - sure, the marathon runner might start out slower, but that doesn't mean that they're less fit.

From Urban Dictionary
"4. knack
To knack: to fuck, to hump, to shag, to bone.
Ah, Dave! I'd knack that tight piece of ass!

knack fuck nack hump shag sex bone  "

This is obviously the reason.

Man, I don't know what's worse, the terrible Mario sales or the terrible ps4 users taste.

At least when we get the real 3d Mario and Zelda we will have accepted the thruth and won't expect to move consoles.

Meh, kids have no taste. If I got a PS4 and had a young  kid  I would probably get Knack for them and they would lap it up like it was a masterpeice!
