It's worth pointing out that we don't have actual numbers, so we can't tell how well or poorly it did. Super Mario Galaxy, in its launch week in Europe, sold 154k copies (we don't have UK numbers for Galaxy's launch week). Super Mario 3D Land sold 144k copies in its first week in Europe, and of that, UK represented 43k copies. If we suppose that PS4's week 1 sales are similar to those of the Xbox One (152k units) as a rough idea, then for 3D World to have performed comparably to Galaxy and 3D Land (both of which have sold quite well on their respective systems, and can't possibly be called flops), one would expect that Knack would have needed to sell to roughly a quarter of PS4 purchasers.
The point I'm making here is, it debuted at 14 because it was released at the same time as a new console launch, and a week after another new console launch.
Note that Super Mario 3D Land debuted at 9th in the UK. It has now sold 8.7 million copies worldwide and 560,000 copies in the UK.
So it's definitely too early to call the game a flop.
