Is it as good as Galaxy?? Overall I would say yes. .. maybe.
I have completed it without collecting all the green stars and stamps. I am now replaying it world by world x 2.
The first time I go around looking for all the stars and stamps, doesn't matter if I die.
I them open the second saved game and try to be as perfect as possible.
Weird but I enjoy it that way.

To be honest 3D World is a better "Mario game" than either of the Galaxy games but maybe not a better game per se if that makes sense.
Though I think it's pretty much a toss up, SMG/SMG2/3D World are the three best Nintendo games they have made post-Ocarina of Time IMO.

Yoshi was good, but only appear on some levels. Still Galaxy is superior. Galaxy is a good deserved 97 while Galaxy 2 is a good 92 sequel.

This game has a way of sneaking up on you and slapping you in the back of the head. It's definitely an evolution of emotion going from level to level. My family and I love it! Multiplayer is a blast! Now back to the game...

The game is amazing! Me and the kids been playing it since last Wednesday! It brought memories back of when I first played Super Mario World on Snes!
