I don't want to be a party popper but I think the direction they are taking is wrong.

I know turn based combat is not modern enough but the flashy combat from KH is not suited for Final Fantasy . I want to have faith on the game but I don't like the direction they are taking.

Wich turn based games would have justified a final fantasy main serie budget in the last 5 years ?

I know that turn based games are basically dead but I don't know... Final Fantasy seems better that way to me. I just find all the flashy combat very boring :/. It's more flash than substance. I like it when bosses need an elaborate strategy to beat them. The KH series never provided me with that. It was fun though, but it was hardly strategical.

I could be wrong though, maybe the game is more substance than it looks. I want to belive in Square, I really do .

"the game is still part of the Fabula nova Crystalis set of games, and although it is a completely different story to FFXIII it has the goddess Etro who is worshipped as a Fal'Cie in this game."

This slightly worries may as, although I have played XIII I have no real interest in playing XIII-2 or Lightning Returns - do you think this may detract in any way from enjoying XV?

No, SE always wait until the user base gets big enough, never release in the first year of the gen as FF games are front loaded.

Didn't they promised to not do any more than 2 years dev cycle a while ago ?

Well, Lightning Returns ( aka XIII-3 ) was just released in Japan (November 21) , set for realese early next year for the rest of the world.

My guess that XV will be release late 2015 in Japan, early 2016 for us ... and I'm being optimistic.

I don't know if you saw the edit. Late 2015 seems correct, but they might looose a LOT if they do, plus they could get some money from sony and ms to push next gen consoles sales if they release it with a smaller userbase.

Plus FF games have great legs, don't they ?

Turn based combat FTW! Too bad it's kinda dead nowadays. Although Bravely Default for the 3DS looks to be a cool turn based JRPG!

Real time and turn based strategy are really different, but they have the same weight to me. It's not about having an elaborate strategy you tought while drinking coffee between two turns, it's about taking the good decision fast and well.

In another genre, you can't say Age of empire has less strategy than civilization. That's just different. There is even strategy in COD (read an amazing article comparing startegy in FFVI against CODMW2).

Now let's see how much hate this gets compared to FFXIII...

They are decent in NA and Europe , but non existent in Japan which is where FF games sell most. I think SE will prefer to wait.

Fans would not be so picky as there is so much to like about XV, unlike XIII , there was so much to hate in it.
