* I tried to scale the images to the ratio between the chips but I guess it is off... so don't take that like something accurate *

I like the way you made the PS4 die photo bigger :|

- from a fellow fanboy ahem :)

The chipwords picture is bigger PS4 chip is small... even if I scale one of the picture there is no way I can do the right size ratio.

Just to have a ideia the Jaguar Quad-core square have similar sizes.

I tried my best to scale the image in way that show the close ratio between the two.

Smaller is always better when it comes to microfabrication and the actual technology. But also appearing to be the case is a smaller (better designed?) console from sony and significantly better sales.

I'm doing my best to stay neutral here but i would say that XBone fanboys are better off sticking to the argument 'Size isn't everything'.

Maybe not to scale but you can definitely see that the Jaguar Cores are very similar and that the reports about the respective graphic cores were accurate. The SRAM has eaten up a lot of die area on the XBox APU that could have been used for more graphics cores. Sony's gamble with GDDR has paid off in Spades.

I think MS could almost double the GPU CUs with the space of eSRAM 24 CUs easily.

Interesting to look at, that's for sure. But like anything of this nature, it is truly useless at the same time.

It is near the end of the end....

If only MS had enabled those two redundant CU's (as they were in discussions to do nearly until launch). They then would have had over 1.5 teraflops, and with more CPU speed and peak bandwidth too boot. At best PS4 might have been able to wrangle a tie in performance (although the PS4's ROP edge might be big).

So MS easily could have had more power than PS4, the same size APU, AND a much cheaper DDR3. Great engineering.

Your hypothetical situation is great engineering, or it is presently?

Why didnt they enable the CU's?
