I like design and miniaturization of electronic consumer devices and technology.

But I must say, I was really disappointed by the PS3 Ultra Slim: It wasn't that smaller, it's uglier than the beautiful PS3 Slim and it felt cheaper in term of build.

Still, it's selling great and now that the PS4 was released but is not backward compatible with the PS3, don't you think they should release a PS3 Micro that matches the new PS4 design but is barely bigger than a blu-ray reader?

It could also be plugged to the PS4 to unify the system: you would start-up from the PS4 OS and system, but have the possibility to play your PS3 games.

Also, of course, it would be a last slash in the price of the PS3 which is still selling great (they could push it as far as selling as much PS3 as Wii sold), and eventually release a PS4/PS3Micro bundle (everything is possible with marketing).

Around the Network

There's no way they'd be able to condense the motherboard all over again that quickly. I bet there will be a final revision, but not until AT LEAST a year from now.

Also, I don't have one, and obviously a slot loader is more convenient, but I think the Super Slim's top loader design is pretty snazzy, they could've been straight up obnoxious about it and gave us the Wii Mini's age-old toilet seat method.

There have certainly been worse ideas. Personally I think this is actually sony's long term plan for VitaTV - by giving it PS3 games through gaikai they create a super cheap microconsole with BC which allows them to trade some of the typical legs of a sony system that PS3 will have for extra vita sales which will help them make more money there, as well as finally ridding them of the Cell+RSX architecture (no matter how many revisions it has, it will never be as cheap to make as VitaTV). All dependent on their streaming tech though and I'm not optimistic it's going to be viable any time soon
