Need for Speed 3D IMAX breakdown review (there's NO Spoilers):
Okay, it's not in IMAX, but I saw it in a Premium Large Format Theater which is basically the same, except with guaratee 4K Projectors.
Anyways, the movie had great actors & some pretty great fictional characters.
Kid Cudi character is a real good side or sub character. (whatever you would call it)
Aaron Paul really shines in the great quality acting he does in this film, and just really sells it to the fullest.
The 3D looks 100% Native on an IMAX size screen, but the conversion was done by "Stereo D", so that's to be expected.
Michael Keaton was diffintely cast in the best role for himself within this movie.
almost every scene in this movie made good to great & astounding use of the 3D.
During Act 1 there are a bunch of scenes that have the background blurred, but this was filmed with 2D in mind by a Director who at the time hated 3D with every fiber of his being, until he saw a several minute clip of this movie converted into 3D. The Director was told it would only take up to 3 months to convert this movie, so the Director demanded this movie to be Converted into 3D. The Director still hates CGI I might add, but it's not needed in car movies anyways, and I personally must say that there are none-car movies that at times soo unnecessarily use CGI in a scene once in a while that clearly didn't need it, and was better off not using it.
Anyways, this movie not using CGI, makes it all the more better of a movie to see in 3D.
From reading reviews of advance 3D screenings of this movie, they said its good and it's AWESOME and that it still could have been soo much better. After getting thru most of the movie, I couldn't understand how it could have been anymore better, but after watching the entire film I now understand.
People who have never seen a 3D Movie would tell you that the best use of 3D in movies like the Great Gatsby & Need for Speed would be the parties & 1st person view, but anyone who has seen a 3D movie, let alone these movies in 3D themselves, will tell you that all the other scenes easily make way more better use of 3D. The first numerous scenes with 1st person driver view makes not that good of use of 3D as I knew it would, but then the rest of the movie makes great use of 1st person view because of what kind of view they show off at the time. (you'll understand when you see the movie in 3D)
The movie is realistic throughout, at least as much as these movies can be.
If you haven't seen the trailers, I would suggest to continue avoiding them, and just pay good money to see this movie in 3D.
This movie in someways seems like this year's Star Trek into Darkness, it premieres in America before almost any other country, and everyone who's seen it, likes it and will say its a good movie. But this movie a trillions of advance screenings 4 to 5 weeks in America and then had a nationwide release to show off that it is a truely good movie by everyone's standards and personal views.
My local theater seems to have fixed the slight stuttering problem, as I have notice when I checked out the regular credits with the 3D glasses off, but then put them back on to read the regular part of the credits which also used 3D. The conversion is mention at the very end of the credits, after it says Dreamworks SKG, after it says distributed by Walt Disney Studios. Theres like probably 100 different people who converted this 2 hour 10 minute movie, in up to 3 months, plus some extra time (like up to around 90 days) for several different screen size formats for Theaters.
Summary: this is a really good movie (and that's with highest standards). And it is AWESOME. The movie still could have been even much more better. I hope they make another Need for Speed 3D movie, but not a Sequel to this of course.
P.S.
The 3D Glasses they give in theaters are different, they are more wider, especially where the handles fully open, but the basic design is still essentially the same. The handles are now made in a way where they don't cut into your ears anymore. They have made Real D 3D Glasses real comfortable now. It's nice to see a bunch of tiny alterations that add up to a lot of difference for much more comfort.
