I wasn't referring specifically to PS4.

I meant gaming on any system.

I didn't know what screen tearing was until 6 months ago when TADS explained it to me. I can safely say I've never noticed it occurring in any game I've ever played... genuinely.

I'm a fan of the Earth Defence Force series. So I definitely know what framerate drops are. I'd rather not have them, but they don't bother me.

Texture pop-in does bother me a bit, but again, I can live with it.

Ah... excelent question. Some of us had to make that decision during this gen. Here is my answer.

I hate screen tearing with a passion. I dont like frame rate drops but i can live with them(aslong as they are not too severe)? Why? Because i can get used to framerate drops in a way that it becomes just the way the game runs. Screen tearing though, breaks your image and disorients you. Its impossible not to notice it every time, and breaks the imersion.

So, yeah... ill take frame dips over screen tearing.

Neither really detract fro the game for me.  I'm from the Nes era.  We expected games to have slowdown and flickering or the developers weren't trying hard enough.

Bad game design is the most annoying thing.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

sreen tearing.

Uncharted 1 is unplayable because of this shit.

Aliasing.

That can be odd bu that's it.

Adaptive V-Sync removes tearing completely on the PC for me.
So it has to be frame drops.
