I completely agree. I thought they couldn't make a worse Final Fantasy than XI (ugh) and XII (which could have been decent, but wasn't), then Square-Enix does this. Then releases Final Fantasy XIV, which wasn't even finished. Then releases two sequels to XIII.

Could someone please remind me why I should be excited for Final Fantasy XV?

Its directed by the guy who did the Kingdome Hearts games.

I don't have a problem with Nomura directing, but nothing I've seen about FFXV has made me excited. FFXIII also had nice graphics and flashy combat, and I still disliked it immensely. It's going to take much more than that to impress me this time.

Well thats the only reason/excuse i can give for being excited about this game

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Good review, making some good points on why the game failed, especially in many FF game lovers opinions. It's strange to think that one of the many reasons why we love FF games (the combat) was last done really well in FFX-2. The game you can't play in front of people.

A few of my main issues, besides the story were; side characters coming and going, press 'X' to go gameplay and leveing, I had more trouble with normal enemies than some boss fights because I was outnumbered and they all attacked my main character and sometimes when enemies attacked your character while they were moving to attack, it cancelled the attack and didn't replace the ATB... I mean what the hell.

Hmm, pie.

You gave presentation a 3? Are you mad? The graphics were a 10 out of 10 everthing else was average.

If you'd given this game to a person that had never before played a Final Fantasy and certainly hadn't read reviews and previews about this one, would the score be the same as yours?
I very much doubt it.

In my opinion you're being way to harsh on the scores, mind you, the game wasn't all that, but it certainly was somewhat entertaining to play and finish.

I don't know if I am the only one but there is something about your writing that makes me skip a lot of text. No offense, I personally find it hard to stay focused on your review. (nothing to do with your scores ;p)

If I'd never have played a Final Fantasy I would have never played it to completion I'm sure.  I think I did a better job explaining this review than any other I've written though and went into detail explaining what was good, but what was so bad about the game.  The battle system while it annoyed me because it feels like it lacks player input, I gave a six, which I consider six good, so I really overrated the score a little.

I gave design a one because of the 20 hour hallway.  More than two thirds of  the way through the game before Gran Pulse and more hallway after Gran Pulse.  Not having played Final Fantasy doesn't matter so long as I've played almost any RPG.  Presentation would have got a one if it wasn't for graphics and audio, which I gave it a three.  The story was so bad that it made other bad storylines not quite as bad as I originally perceived them.  It was one of the worst stories I've read in any game and there was so much of it.

Though the score may be low, I did write a post which I linked to the very beginning so you can see how I score.  I use all the numbers, so I consider a six as being good and Iexplain why.  That doesn't change that even if this score was inflated to how journalistic sites review it that it would have a good score, but it'd be higher.  Just trying to give you better perspective on why I scored the game the way I did.  It's kind of poorly written, but read the post.

Also.  I'm not he best writer.  Not very good at all honestly, but opinion aside, what didn't you like about the writing in the review.  Some input my help me on later reviews.

i love this game, but i can undertand why people hate it

The story is not easily the worst thing about it, it's also easily the worst story that appeared in FF, ever 20 hour hallway? Try 45. Gran Pulse is just a wider hallway with nothing to do but kill monsters. Replaying FF XIII though? +1. I could never do that. I can talk forever...

Disappointment of the generation? I'd say!

One of my favourite games of the generation.

FFXIII is too old to have a review like this. It makes it hard to read the whole review, specifically the parts where go into to high of detail about how the systems work which is pointles because everybody who likes Final Fantasy has already played this and XIII-2. You could have cut out with along with first paragraph and just focused on things you didnt like. In regards to FFXIII series its a step backwards in every regard. Its sucks we waited so long for this.

So just because a game isn't brand new doesn't mean someone can't review it.

I expect to see you post this same comment in any review of a game that's older than two years.  Youtube, VGChartz, doesn't matter where you see it.
