Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft pulls Xbox one offline update page

apparently it wasn't the actual update and if you just used whats on there it could brick the system

That file was never designed to replace the day one update. Its a recovery file in case something goes wrong. Instead of risking customers get themselves into a bad state by installing the file, we are going to troubleshoot on a case-by-case basis. It is not a replacement for the online update.

I was actually thinking that it wasn't the right file. My theory though, was that they hadn't actually finished the update patch, and had put a rushed one there previously. I'm sure the actual patch will make it's way there at some point.

They have done some really stupid things (if you want an offline experience get a 360....), but that would be a step too far.

If this is supposed to strip the DRM, then maybe it's a security thing? It might not be the patch they want people picking apart.

Sorry I don't have links, but ms has already said they were "temp" banning ppl who got t consoles and went on live early. The bans will be lifted post launch. As far asthe offline update, something doesn't smell right. Not sure if it's twitter dude or ms who has the stench.

Not quite sure why they are being banned if they got their console a day early. I know there is no real punishment, but there doesn't seem much harm in letting people who got it legitimately play it early

I'm assuming it's an auto-ban. Thinks should be ironed out by now...... hopefully

i guess it's because of piracy.

a download on pc may give the hackers an easier way to analyse the download code.

i still think its because they gave in to the complains
