Wait a second, people are saying Vita outsold 3DS by adding in the Vita TV? Shouldn't that count separate since it's a different console (or accessory)? Did Super Game Boy sales count towards Game Boy's sales? The whole thing seems odd for tracking purposes.

It plays vita games as well. Interesting you left out the biggest feature. As well as Netflix, Hulu, ect features that are on vita. It's a vita for the tv screen for $100, but doesn't play disks or have portable capability.

of course not, it was an accesory to a home console. Vita TV can be played without any other consoles and is a part of the Vita family.
Just like we do for all consoles and handhelds (3DS, XL, 2DS or PS3, SLim, Super Slim etc

Unless it plays different games from one another they shouldn't be separated on our charts (even if its no longer a handheld).
