well it was talking about how the PS1 crushed the N64 and it says it repeated the performance with the PS2 (which it did, even harder) and the PS3, which it didnt. and now the PS4 (which it is currently).

Well yeah in that case there is a hole there. The PS3 didn't beat the Wii but the PS4 is sure to repeat what the PS2 did but with the Wii U xD.

It was the codename for Playstation during development. It would be like making a 360 lore and only referring to kinect as Natal.

Wasn't it also a console? I think it was released after the PS1!

The actual console named psx was a ps2 with dvr capabilities released only in Japan. PS1 is sometimes called psx because of the codename, but the real psx is the dvr-based ps2.

Oh it was japan only! Well I still think that PSX sounds cooler but it's true. The correct name is PS1 :P.

heh, I think that was one of the main reasons why the psx codename stuck with the playstation. It's typically an American media thing that referred to the console as psx...probably because it sounded "Xtreme".

I will forever call it the PSX :(

I remember the magazines here in Argentina called it the PSX. It's just too cool, putting an X in front of something makes everything cooler! xD

Original PS: PS1, not PSX

To be fair, PSX was VERY common back then. Every gaming magazine called it that way (at least in germany) and young kids didn't have internet in those days. That's why us old folks call it the PSX and will continue to do so. It's just a habit.
