The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, has stoked the fires of the console wars by publicly praising Sony’s PS4.
The king-in-waiting was visiting Bafta’s headquarters in London to help launch the Give Something Back campaign, aimed at helping young movie, TV and game creators hone their skills.
Speaking about Sony’s console, releasing November 29, the Prince said:
“It's very addictive. I'd like to get one but I'm not sure how my wife would feel about it.”
Admittedly, William would probably have said the same if presented with Microsoft’s rival console, the Xbox One.
Speaking about the Give Something Back drive, the heir to the throne said:
“Our developers are more in demand than ever before, so I hope the young people take inspiration from today's workshop, and get a taste for what a career in games might be like.
“I know that I, for one, as an enthusiastic but quite useless gamer, look forward to playing the weird and wonderful games which these young people dream up in the future.”
We say
Well, the Obama thing above was a hilarious lie – there’s no news on who Microsoft will be bringing in to endorse the Xbox One.
Safe to say, we’ll have all the reports from that particular console’s launch party – just before its November 22 release – right here.
PS4 releases in the UK on November 29, priced at £349. The Prince will probably get one for free, mind.
