I'm actually playing through it now and the first thing I thought was, this feels so much like FF12.

I don't particularity like jrpg's that much so prob not.

Come now. Xenoblade's art design is great and it certainly looks better than any RPG on the PS1, for that matter. As for its battle system, Xenoblade's is more tactile and involving than FFXII, with much less time spent in menus just for preperation's sake. There's also a ton of strategic fobiles tied into the Diablo-like gem system, and the whole "see the future" gameplay twist is well-implemented.

For those saying that Persona or Valkyria Chronicles is better, you're welcome to your own opinion. Those games are far different from Xenoblade to begin with, so it can easily be a matter of taste.

I disagree with you all. Best RPG of the past decade is SMT Nocturne. After October 2014 it'll be past a decade so it'll be something else.

Etrian Odyssey and Persona are a lot better than Xenoblade. Xenoblade is very idolized (especially in the U.S. market) mainly to the small number of copies and the little publicity in relation to the game - only fault of Nintendo America). It is a great RPG, but the first two are far superior. I'd like to try Final Fantasy Type-0, to determine better future judgments.

Xenoblade is almost entirely unlike Persona and Etrian Odyssey. :P They're different to the point where whether one is "better" is almost entirely subjective. Then again, when it comes to entertainment, "better" is usually a subjective term.

Now, Xenoblade earned high marks for being a massive, quality, home console JRPG at a time when the usual mainstays have either failed or went AWOL. It's limited release might've helped in the sense that it recieved a ton of word of mouth because of it, but Xenoblade is primarily appreciated because it stuck its foot deep into Final Fantasy's rear end.

I agree with this opinion.

i would not say small number of copies, even with the eclusivity Xenoblade sold 0.84 millions while the best Persona (P4) sold 0.82, Etrian Odessey is low compared to those. 

When you say last decade, do you refer to 2000-2010?
