Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Recent events make the XO power difference seems less of an issue to me

I was pretty discouraged a few weeks ago when the news of 720P BF4/COD was rolling in...even considering sitting out this generation etc.

But now we've seen for ourselves (in the case of BF4) and heard reviewers say the XO version of Ghosts is fine, maybe even superior due to framerate. additionally there's now comparison videos on YT making the same point. There may be differences, but they are subtle and probably not even noticable unless doing an A/B comparison split screen.

It seems like it's turning out that next gen textures and effects is a bigger deal than resolution. 720P as long as it has next textures and effects is fine. XO games will be a big step up from 360 ones even at the same 720P resolution  Sure 1080P is preferable, but it's not a dealbreaker.

Or look at it another way, plenty of people are happy with their Wii U, it has some great looking games too, and it's not even in the XO's galaxy powerwise. XO may be deficient to PS4, but it has massively more power than Wii U.

I'm more comfortable choosing Xbox for the imo superior OS/online and controller, now.

=) brace yourself.

I honestly wouldn't trust much right now from anyone. The launch period is notorious for slanted or hyped reviews. We'll know everything in a week or two.

Agreed. I have been and XBox supporter from the get-go, but even I was disappointed with the initial price point and the way MS constantly said graphics does not matter while still trying to claim their superiority in that department. Now that everything is out in the open people can see that the machine is almost as capable while also having lots of extra features so I am more excited than even for the 360 now :).

I agree OP. Never was a problem with me. I'm sure things will get better anyway.

So you were planning on sitting out the gen because CoD was 720P, if that bothered you so much then why didn't you just get a PS4?

Do you hate Sony that much lol?

As for the topic itself, I don't get it, why did you make a topic just to reaffirm what side you were on? I mean we all knew you were a Xbox fan, doesn't deserve it's own thread tbh.

native resolution was never a big a deal. Both systems will always output 1080p anyway, you would seriously have to pause and zoom in to see any kind of significant difference. playing both side by side from a reasonable distance, an objective person would have a hard time telling them apart.

All this resolution crap is just fodder for the console wars. Something to latch on to and brag about. As potential buyer though, I couldn't care less about native resolution of the games.

"Plenty people are happy with their Wii U." <_<

Now that they have games coming out.

COD is getting a frame rate patch on PS4 so those frame rate issues will be gone and then it is 1080 vs 720 and PS4 wins again. Worse versions of ACIV, BF4, and more suggests the PS4 is the stronger system and once the full lineup of PS4 exclusives roll out it won't even matter if the XBONE catches up by then it will be too late in my opinion.
