@ meige22... U really wanna know why not?! Because Wii is totally gonna sell more then 6 million units in 2007... That thing is selling out on a worldwide basis!... And why would PS3 make 20 mil in 2007?! They cant even produce enough hardware to reach that goal, and i dont see those real killer aps, the most will come in 2008, it aint selling to hard either in Japan and the US Wii does have those 2007 killer-aps. SSB:Brawl, Metroid 3, Sadness, No more heroes, Mario galaxy. Btw, X360 has some nice K-aps too!...

THE NETHERLANDS

*This is not bashing anybody* I really don't think this report is good...no matter how much the PS3 picks up in sales, there's no way it could get to 19.5 mil by the end of the year...that would be an insane increase in sales that I don't see happening. And I'm not sure how many Wiis will sell, but my guess would be a little higher than 10...but we'll see.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I find the end of 2007 numbers to be unrealistic at this point in time ... The Wii (at its current sales rate) will be in the 8 Million unit sold mark sometime in April or May ... It is safe to assume that in Q4 the Wii will sell (at least) 2.5 Million units world wide ... This means that in June, July, August, and September the Wii would have to sell 0 units for his estimates to be correct. On the other hand the PS3 has sold (roughly) 2 Million units and is selling at a monthy rate of (approximately) 100,000 units in Japan and 250,000 units in north America; even if you assume strong sales in Europe and increased sales everywhere else the PS3 will (probably) sell at a rate of 750,000 to 1,000,000 per month for the last 10 months of the year. Basically ... it is unlikely the PS3 would break 12 Million units in 2007.

When was this report written? Because unless it was before the actual launch of the Wii/PS3, it's a silly report. The Wii numbers literally don't make any sense based on how the consoles have been recieved.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Market research firm predicts Nintendo as market leader for 2007 - 2008 Nintendo's Wii console will outship and outsell the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 throughout 2007 and 2008, according to market research firm IDC. But although the Xbox 360 has enjoyed a full year's head start over rivals, and the Wii is likely to perform well over the next two years, the company believes that this home console cycle will see no clear-cut dominant hardware. "IDC believes hardware shipments of Nintendo's Wii will capture a little more than a third of the worldwide market by 2008, rising slightly above Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360," reported the firm. "Nintendo is the only one of the three manufacturers working to grow its accessible market for its hardware and software by broadening its audience beyond the traditional market," observed the company. IDC believes that Nintendo will be responsible for capturing consumers new to gaming, while Sony and Microsoft continue the obsession with higher specifications and digital home entertainment packages. Billy Pidgeon, program manager at IDC added: "With the Wii, Nintendo is abdicating the specification war, leaving Sony and Microsoft to slug it out between themselves for the hardcore market." "We believe concerted efforts to broaden the appeal of videogames beyond the traditional enthusiast base will deepen the industry's penetration." "This is good news for an industry that seemed to be receding last year due to over-saturation of the core base," he added. http://gamesindustry.biz/
