Forums - Sony - What if Sony made a 1TB SSD Hybrid PS4?

Would you buy a PS4 with a 1TB Hybrid Drive for around $469-$499?

Hell Yeah! 21 45.65%

I'm getting a 500GB PS4. 11 23.91%

I'm getting an Xbox One. 4 8.70%

I'm getting/own Wii U. 8 17.39%

Two of the above (will explain below). 2 4.35%

Total:46

From what I can see in different forums, many people (like myself) are planing to upgrade to a 1TB Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drive from day one to have more capacity and better performance. I just thought it would be a good strategy if both companies made the process easier and make Hybrid 1TB PS4 SKU for around $469-$499, I think that would be sweet.

Can I vote for 2?

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Yeah!

I don't care personally. I don't mind deleting things as I am done with them. Early adopters of PS3 like me have been dealing with that for the second half of this gen anyways. Also, I know people who have put faster hard drives into PS3's and any performance increase is negligible. Maybe PS4 will see a drastic increase? That would make it worth it.

With me already getting one, it would be more feasible to get a internal hd. Im still waiting to see how the hybrid and ssd work out with others ps4 before I do make the move.

Yeah, I'm of course talking about an internal SSHD, It seems PS4 won't support external drives at all. SSD's are still pretty expensive and they come in limited capacities, so it seems that hybrids and traditional drives are the less eccentric options.

When I get the X1, I hope they will have patched in the external HDD support by then.  I see no reason to purchase another HDD to replace the one internal drive, I rather add to it.

For the PS4, I doubt I will purchase another interal HDD to replace the 500HDD.  Seems a waste to lose the 500HDD and even if I decide at a later date to replace the stock drive, it would be when I get tired or removing stuff I an not playing or using.

"What if?"

More a case of when than if. Look at what they launched with this gen and then look at what they finished with.

Yeah!

Well then, I already own a Wii U and I'd totally get a 1 TB PS4!
