The Nintendo wii sales this week are nothing great, Nintendo will ship 1.8mil wiis this month, its just a matter of when they will sell. Nintendo wii's are also not selling out in most of Europe and in Japan, so over the next 2months the level of wii's in NA will grow.

Are you kidding me? Nintendo is going to sell over 400,000 Wiis this week, in February (one of the slowest retail months of the year), with ZERO new releases of any note this week. That's absolutely amazing. Only the DS sells at that rate, and we all know how unbelievable DS sales have been over the past two years. I mean, that's practically holiday-level sales for the other consoles. The Wii is doing that on a completely ordinary sales week in February! How can you possibly say that those sales are "nothing great?"

Fun comparison: the PS3 sold 356k units last year worldwide the week of Black Friday (Nov. 24). Wii sales this week will be at least 50k higher than that...

Actually he may be right that this week is nothing, I could see Wii selling much much more than what it did this week even in February

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Crazzyman, the Wii sales relation to GC is just not logical. First off just from viewing customers and friends there are lots of Wii owners who don't even know what a Gamecube is. When some people buy them, I tell them that they play GC games too and they ask if it plays PS2 games also. The general public that are buying Wii's are mostly clueless to what they do and mostly i hear stories of seeing it on the news or played it at my relative or friends house.

Also are you counting, just GC owners or DS owners as well, if DS owners are counted too then that would push the number up to about 64 million consoles.

The only reason im posting this is because I have seen this arguement in numerous threads now and I just want to point out that the logic is just silly and (slightly) biased.

And you tell them, 'as good as most PS3s now do', right?

Yeah, at this point thats my only option, since Sony has all but offically killed the 80GB model. Now, i get to deal with people bringing back their 40GB PS3 thinking that it's broken because it wont play their PS2 games. Sometimes I wish casual gamers were sligtly more informed, but i guess thats what makes them casual gamers.
