#45 which is actually #44 as Kresnik correctly pointed out...
'The Operative: No One Lives Forever'
for the PC released in 2000.
This quirky shooter is about just one thing: fun. This game never takes itself seriously, which is it's greatest appeal. With a ridiculous story, the stupidest weapons and the most stereotypical characters, the game never fails to put a smile on your face. Beneath the goofy exterior though, lies a game that was actually worth it to play, with solid gameplay and good level-design. Also, for it's time, the wasn't hard to look at.
I played it on PC, which was back then of course without a doubt technically the best way to play any game. Therefore, back then it blew anything else I had at the time out of the water as the Nintendo64 and the Dreamcast weren't able to produce games with graphics like this. Maybe it's because of this game, and other games on PC that came out in the era, that I was never impressed with the PlayStation 2 and as a result never got it. PC was the way to go, this game proved it.
Now, years later, I fondly remember back to this game, and it's case is still right here in the 'PC-games-rack', but for some reason I'm never enticed to pick it up and play through it once more. I guess it's because it didn't really stood the test of time, and it's nature as a first-person-shooter doesn't really help either when newer FPS's obviously have better game-mechanics. Still, comedy shouldn't be underrated, and this game definitely is.
#43 Hint
This early sports-game has a name which isn't really the name of the sport here on my continent. However, on the continent where the system sold the most, that name was given to some other sport so they (society, not the developers of this game of course ) made up their own for this one!
