Admittedly, the amputee thing is just a little-known factlet that I threw in there to throw people off. :P What you want to focus on is the rest of it.

I guess I should specify that the guy in contact with them doesn't sound like a soda because of his voice (how would that even make sense?), but because he has a name that resembles a certain sbrand of soft drink.

I thought you might be talking about Star Fox, but now I'm even more sure.

Well done. The amputee part refers to the fact that in order to avoid blood dropping from their brain to their legs as a consequence of intense g-force, the entirety of the Star Fox team had their legs amputated and replaced with metallic prostheses (as you can see here and here). Which is... rather macabre, and surprisingly bad-ass for someone like Slippy.

Well, so much for today's lesson in completely useless video game trivia, everybody. For tomorrow's class, all of you will play at least ten hours of Dwarf Fortress.

In my defense, Dr. Pepper isn't that popular in Canada.

I take no excuses. If you know that Dr. Pepper exists, then the connection shouldn't have been hard.

To think I used to like you.

It's okay. We all make mistakes.

But I already have!

Adventure mode, that is. Love the battle system. Fortress mode is just too much for me.

47. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (40 last year), first impression 8, replayability 6, technical score 8.

Pros: It's a sequel to Metroid Prime (no spoilers are needed to say that's my number one this year as in prior years) and still kept up a lot of what made Metroid Prime so perfect, from the tone of the game to its beautiful worlds to an adventure-focused style of FPS combat

Cons: Beam ammo and some bosses that made you want to rip your own head off (like the Boost Guardian, Spider Guardian, and phase 3 of the Emperor Ing). The difficulty spikes hurt its replay value, the odd choice of beam ammo (the first and only time in any Metroid game this was implemented) hurts technical score. Difficulty was remodeled somewhat in the Trilogy re-release, but i'm judging the original game here.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I actually never got past Phase 3 of Emperor Ing. I also agree with you on the beam ammo, that was a big drawback of Echoes.

46: The first game in its franchise to address the critiques regularly brought against the franchise by groups like PETA, though it wasn't until the 5th iteration that they bothered to do so.

Believe it or not, I found Phase 3 of Emperor Ing to be the easiest one thanks to the Screw Attack glitch. Now, Phase 2 was a pain in the rear. All of the Morph Ball-centric bosses are, come to think of it.

#47 - Gravity Rush (Kudos to no-one for guessing this)

One of three games I bought my PS Vita for, which turned out to be every bit as good as I had hoped it would be.  You control an amnesiac girl named Kat and her pet... cat dusty as she floats through a foreign city.

What GR absolutely nails is mixing an incredibly enjoyable gameplay mechanic with a light, enjoyable narrative tying everything together (a theme which is prevelant throughout many games in my top 50).  Controlling Kat is difficult to get to grips with at first, but by the end of the game you'll get the hang of soaring through Hekseville while picking up gems and doing tasks for townsfolk.

I won't lie that I can understand the criticisms that the game left as many doors open as it closed by the ending, but that doesn't take away any of the enjoyment I got from this title.  Definitely a fantastic reason to own a Vita and a game whose sequel I am truly genuinely looking forward to.

Clue for my #47 - "It flew off. Good. For him. Alright, back to thinking".
