Should have QUOOOOOOOOOOOOOTED! *shakes fist*
12. WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos
PC (2002)
Blizzard Entertainment
WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion pack The Frozen Throne is probably my most played game ever, easily above 1,000 hours of playtime. How so? Well, an extremely involving and fun story mode, countless hours playing friends and others on Battle.net or locally, and most importantly of all... Custom Maps. WinterMaul One, Pokemaul, DOTA, Poker TD, DBZ Tribute... Custom Maps offered a plethora of amazing content and a time sink unlike any other. So many good memories with this game, and even now I'll go back and play a round or two. Of course I have to give a shout out to the Undead. My life for Ner'zhul!
11. Conker's Bad Fur Day
Nintendo 64 (2001)
Rare Ltd.
With the Nintendo 64 fading into the twilight, Rare gave it one last swan song in their greatest work ever (which is saying a lot!). Conker's Bad Fur Day succeeds in the amount of diverse content it offers to the player. The legendary studio took everything they learned from all their previous games and combined them to offer an adventure that threw everything at you. Throwing toilet paper at a giant singing Poo Monster, hover boarding across lava, taking down zombies and nazi teddiz, capturing villagers to fatten up a giant vampire bat, and smacking an iron golem's brass... er... balls. Doing this all while cracking jokes and spoofing movie moments (most hilarious being the Matrix spoof). I haven't even mentioned the multiplayer yet, which offered hours upon hours of great fun with a plethora of modes to choose from. When the game was rereleased on the Xbox (with the multiplayer completely gutted...), I sat down and completed the entire adventure in one sitting. Just as amazing as I remembered it. *raises glass of milk*
10. Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow
GameBoy (1998)
Game Freak
The game that started it all. Not just a game franchise, but a cultural phenomenon that's still felt today. I can't tell you how many times I played and replayed this game. How many times I defeated the Elite Four and Gary (his name is Gary!) to become the Pokemon League Champion. How many times I abused the Missingno. glitch to get infinite Rare Candies and Masterballs. How many rocks and Safari Balls I used to finally get Scyther. How many times I felt all powerful by using said Master Ball on Mewtwo, the most powerful Pokemon of them all. Or how many times I checked that random truck in Vermillion City for the elusive Mew. All I can tell you is that Pokemon Red/Blue (and later on Yellow) started something in my gaming life that's still being felt to this very day. The game has heart, and in the end that's what matters.
9. Metroid Prime
GameCube (2002)
Retro Studios
Metroid Prime was a bold move because not only did it bring Samus in a 3D world, it did it from a first person perspective. The result was a complete and utter success. Right from the get-go, the game feels right, the essence of what makes a Metroid game is still there, the exploration, the power ups, the morph ball, the inacessible path you'll get back to later, everything. Talon IV is beautiful, vast and a joy to explore. Samus controls perfectly, even when you have to run, make a double jump and shoot your grapple beam. The story is also really captivating, told through logs you scan during your journey, it is never forced on you. Filled with thrilling boss fights and challenging areas this game provides with many hours of gaming heaven.

Secret of Mana?

My number 10, "better than Persona 4" is Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne.
Number nine. PSP remake that included the original game in all its forms and an enhanced port of its sequel as unlockables.
Number eight. A lot of games in my top 50 already listed are in this franchise. This game is Super.
