Let me steer you in the right direction. It's the "luckiest entry", so think about how an entry in a franchise might be considered lucky.

Super Smash Bros!!!!? If not I have no idea, but the N64 focused on 3D gameplay. Also it could be the "luckiest" because it was a strange kind of fighting game. Not any game came close to it in it's mechanics.

Damn I missed again! FOX seems to be really good at this xD.

I've already been stumped a couple times in this thread. And the first time should've been an easy guess (I had the right series, but the wrong entry).

Now, here's me updated #49 hint: It's the luckiest entry in one of gaming's biggest franchises. Entire communities have formed around it. It was also released on the industry's first system to truly focus on 3D gameplay.

Metal Gear Solid

No. So let me steer you in the right direction - I mean "communites" in a rather literal sense.

I'm going to try to do clues this year, but no promises; here's the first!:

My #50 sports a battle system which would later see a similar and simplified cost of action system used in Final Fantasy XIII and a childhood friend who won't join your journey without the proper sequence of events.

It has to be Robotrek. I know my Quintet RPGs.

Alas no, but that gives me a game to look at that I'd previously not heard of so yay. My clues may apply to too many games so here's another:

The main character's name is similar to a once popular but now discontinued soft drink.

The Last Remnant with Rush as the main character?

Let me steer you in the right direction. When I say "3D gameplay", it doesn't necessarily mean 5th gen consoles (but it could).

Final Fantasy VII? Lucky in the sense that sales exploded?

Ocarina of Time? Lucky in the sense that Link didn't die when he pulled the Master sword, but got frozen in time and was able to save Hyrule as an adult?

The industries first systems to focus on 3D gameplay would be the PS1/N64 right?

Gran Turismo? I recall this game had trouble convincing car manufacterers to join in, and there are only like 5 non-Japanese cars.

You are exactly two logical leaps from the correct answer, so let me bring the count down to one:

When I say the game is lucky, I'm referring to its title.

No. But I just realized that my repeitition of "steer" is an unintentionally good hint.

Could it be F zero X? It got lucky because it was named F zero X instead of F Zero 64 right?
