Only one of those consoles gets Titanfall in 2014. Thus 2014 is the year of Titanfall Xbox One.

So 1 game makes the year? Wouldn't it just be an increase in sales for a month and then a return to normal sales numbers, which will most likely be lower than PS4?

Looks like you haven't seen Titanfall.

Most people did see Titanfall. Interestingly enough, not everyone jumped blindly onto the overhype train.

Titanfall is a multiplayer-only game. Multiplayer-only games don't fare very well on consoles.

lol like what, MAG?

MAG should be a good exmaple of how this game will perform, expect this one will have a bigger marketing budget behind it. So expect double the sales of MAG if things go well for it.

lol no MAG shouldn't, because MAG was garbage.

There has never been an online MP game as hyped or as high quality (from all impressions) as Titanfall. So comparisons to stuff like MAG or niche stuff like Warhawk can be thrown right out the window.

I can see you're really hyped for the game, so i can understand your bias for it.

Realistically MAG and Warhawk are the best examples of MP only games. Also don't forget, those are games that were on PS3. A system that struggled because of it's price and userbase which is the most likely scenario for the Xbone.

So if you think about it a little, you'd realize there is just no better alternative out there to compare Titanfall with.

Nah, I agree with his point there. Titanfall is way more hyped than MAG, Warhawk or Skyhawk. It's not even comparable.

I don't understand the hype for it though. Seems pretty generic to me, but I've never been a fan of that kind of game either.

You have to keep in mind that the launch period of a console is anemic when it comes to game choice. Titanfall being the most hyped title for the XBO launch window will make sure it sells quite a bit. Your comparison doesn't stand for a second here. The fact that you mention the price point of the PS3, when games like MAG and Skyhawk got released long after both consoles shared a relative price parity between each other screams "grasping at straws".

What does hype or bias have to do with a terrible example being made? I could hate FPS and have 0 hype for Titanfall and it would still be a terrible example.

MAG was an average at best, extremely generic FPS with no hype behind it. In fact if anything there was a negative reaction to it because Zipper fans (myself included) wanted a SOCOM sequel, not some crappy online only MP game. Warhawk is a niche title, please do not waste everyones time trying to compare it to a mainstream, mass appeal FPS like Titanfall.

The last part of your post is correct, but not in the way you intend. Like I said, there has never been something like this on consoles. So you're right, there is no better comparison because they are all equally invalid. Hope that helped, I'm gonna run along laughing at the notion of MAG and Titanfall being compared LOL.

The difference between X1 and PS4 multiplat games will be greater during launch than afterwards.

Two simple reasons :

X1 architecture is "esram sauce" complex when PS4 is the first true dev-friendly Sony home console

X1 has an amazing 1st party launch line-up thus offering a lesser return on investment for 3rd parties

Prediction :

2014 : X1 will conquer mainstream channels and audience (thanks to superior UI and kinect)

2015 : 3rd devs will increase X1 budgets putting multiplat games on par or almost to PS4's

COD has higher preorders on X1 than any MS first party game. In fact I think it has higher preorders than COD on PS4. And yet it has one of the biggest performance differences between the consoles. A lack of return on investment is not the issue.

Titanfall is also on the 360 and PC, so how is it the year of the Xbox One when you can get the game elsewhere?  Why can't it be the year of the Xbox 360?  It is getting Lords of Shadow 2, Lightning Returns(which actually looks like it could be good,) and maybe others.  Why can't it be the year of PC which is getting Titanfall, Lords of Shadow 2, The Division, Mirror's Edge 2, plus more exclusives, even if they are mostly indie games, than the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U combined.

OP is comparing PS4 and Xbox One. I thought it was obvious. Either way yikes, Titanfall is a touchy subject for a lot of people here it seems. Bye.

what year of the X ???? the year of the X starts in 11 days.... it will be the best console launch ever for both consolse..... it's not like the PS3 and XB360 launch where you had a one year lag and some people being bitchy about 600 bucks.... this year will be grand for both console with PS4 gaining a couple Ks maybe but nothing note worthy in terms of profitability difference.... heck I wouldn't be surprised if the Xboss gnerates more revenue or at least more net profit than the PS4 from day one....

I thought the same thing, Both systems are must haves and they will both do extremely well.  Hell, the XB1 will probably actually be more profitable from the end users.  But, the content on the XB1 is going to kill the actual net profit on this system for M$ for the next 18-24 months.

It is near the end of the end....

I think that 2015 the year for XBOX1 will be, because hopefully for MS they then have had 1 year where they could proof and regain their part and maybe Sony will have some screw-ups etc. But at this moment I have the feeling that Sony will rule 2013/2014.

Ps. On what do you base your opinion that the UI of MS is superior to others?

From the official demo videos and descriptions. The only feature where X1 is known to be behind is the video capture. All the rest, from speed to possibilities is theoretically to X1's advantage.

As you are the first person (execpt for the French guy who said that with the power of Cloud the XBOX would be the strongest console ever) who are saying this.
Can you please explain yourself? This because most articles, reviews and Hardware details say something complete different to what you say!
Next to this, I'm not blind to the fact that Graphics and hardware power are the most important thing, especially in Gaming the gameplay I think is very important. As the X1 is not officially out yet, we need to see which console gives gamers the best overall game experience!

Ps. eventhough I think that Xbox Live is a very good online service Miscrosoft is not really superior in software! So I will just wait and see  which one is better.
