Forums - Microsoft - Unity free to inide devs on xbox one

Very strange wording. There are two versions, Unity (free) and Unity Pro ($1500).
Let's just summarize:
a) Unity has always been free for developers.
b) The wording does NOT say you get Unity Pro for free
c) Ms talks about an "Addon", NOT Unity Pro
So what do you get for free now?

There are three things that got announced.  Unity Pro Tools for Xbox One, the Unity Tools Add-On for Xbox One, and the Unity Tools for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.

The latter two are free and for those that already have Unity Free or Pro.

The former is a free version of Unity Pro tailored specifically to development on the Xbox One.

The benefit of the Add-on for Windows is that it allows a develop to "port" their code to the Windows store.  The Xbox One version of Unity Pro and the Add-on for Unity provides pre-baked functionality.

So, to recap.
a.  Unity Pro for Xbox One is free to developers, as well as the Add-On for Windows and Xbox for existing licensees of Unity Pro and Unity Free.
b.  Yes, it does, but you actually have to read the official statement, "...as will special Xbox One-only Unity Pro seat licenses for Xbox One developers in the ID@Xbox program."
c.  They talk about both.  Reading is fundemental.
d.  I answered this above.

Can you make anything like Bomberman 64?

Nah. I am novice in this field. I have forgotten many things. If I start; I have to start from the beginning. But I just dont have the time to do it.

Don't be dumb. Ask for help. I've always wanted to do a project as well. We could team-up, in the future :D

Well isn't that a condescending response.

Also are you guessing based off the article? Not saying I'm right and you're wrong, but my experience of using unity for the two other next-gen consoles leads me to interpret this a different way.

Kudos to Microsoft. I might release my game (its not ready) one day at XBLA. But its a long way to go.

What genre?

I wanted to make a simple platforming game (using game maker) in ios / android long ago. But I just dont have the time to do it. Plus I have started a job again. My less time became lesser. But me and my friend has a plan to make a game in future.

How far did you get into it, like did you have a playable Demo and have you ever considered kickstarter as an option to fund your game?

Good luck!!

I watched to groups today pitch their game ideas. One of them was an RPG with dinosaurs and a sexy women that would lose her cloths with upgrades. Hope you have a better plan for your game :)

Steam/Origin ID: salorider

As a Wii U owner this sounds like great news. Hopefully this will encourage more devs to use Unity

What's wrong with that? I see a clearly defined reward system and a novel gameplay mechanic.

On a more serious note, do you work with a publisher? If so would you be up for a pretty basic pm conversation?

It was kinda demo but was in very initial stage. I was looking forward for a visual artist but unfortunately it was too much for a guy like me who was a student back in that time. I have a diary which is full of some crazy ideas (not going to mention :p) and I am still writing it. I have a plan to start a new game from scratch next year. Or the very least I want to make some concept design to sell its right to microsoft or sony before PS5 / next box launches. :p :p
