Forums - Gaming - Adam Sessler's: On Xbox One and PS4's Resolutiongate, and Day One Patches

This is gaming journalism. They are really hypoctire. Why change of tone Mr. Sessler?

Basically says that Sony, MS, EA, Activision, etc. have pushed 1080p/60 fps as an improbable standard because of marketing, and PR. Then says that the games ultimately matter.

Also, a question about how day one patches matter for consoles.

---

Edit: So, after I watched today's Sessler's Something, I thought the whole argument was odd, since I remember Adam Sessler's pretty much arguing that his expectation were always 1080p/60 for these two new consoles, and that they needed to show something more.

So I looked up the video from his panel he did last June for this year's Screw Attack Gaming Convention, and well....

Certainly, Adam Sessler has always said that games needs to innovate and show us(the consumers and the press) what a next gen concept and game is; but he certainly expected both the XBox One, and PS4 to be 1080p/60.

So now that we have confirmation that one system is clearly having issues with reaching 1080p/60 with multiplat games, what changed in Sessler's expectations?

Here is combined video.

He says that with "these games" he can barely notice the difference between what is in 1080p or lower so he justifies his change of opinion in a way .

You have followed the path of a talking head. Do we or should we care what Sessler says? That's the same as asking your mother! He has no more ability to speak on the issue than either you or me. Just a talking head...

It is near the end of the end....

Haha wow that video title and description. Made my day.

I agree. I value his opinions though. he is my favourite game reviewer. I think its more of a personality thing than anything. he plays alot of games but he isn't really the super tech savy type so it's an opinion, take it or leave it.

It's human nature to change their minds about things. I was leaning on the side of all three major game markets at one point or another. so I clearly won't blindly stick with one thing over blind fanboyism.

I agree, with him as what I have seen makes no dif the res so we won't see any disparity until late next year if we ever see disparity besides the numbers attached to native res.

The fact that the system that's having the issues is the Xbox. If the PS4 was having the issues, he'd be all over it saying that it's not up to par, won't be able to match the XBone, etc. etc.

But since it's the Xbox that's having the issues....."I can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p, framerate doesn't matter, the "power" is irrelevant as long as the games innovate, blah blah blah" If graphics, framerate and power don't matter, he should go play an Atari or something. Ignoring the fact that graphics, good framerates and power are instrumental in giving devs the tools to innovate in a way he is looking for.....even though he's silmultaneously dismissing those things to say "gameplay > graphics", in a nutshell, to make it in favor of the XBone

The picture of the embed video before you hit play looks like he is getting ready to do the bird dance.
