Forums - Sony - PlayStation Vita TV ad shows microconsole in action

A new Japanese language video for the PlayStation Vita TV demonstrates how the forthcoming microconsole will work in the home.

The device, which currently has no Western release plans, allows users to play Vita games on their TV. It can also stream PS4 games to a second screen, and offers a range of media streaming options.

The video shows how all this will work in practice, including streamed footage of Knack and forthcoming Vita title God Eater 2 operating on a big screen.

The 6.5cm by 10.5cm device was unveiled at a Sony Japanese press conference in September. 1,300 PS Vita, PSP, PS1 and PS2 games will be compatible with the console. It will allow users to access the PS4 remotely from a second screen.

Initially targeted to Japan and other Asian regions, Sony has pointed to a possible Western launch following a better than expected response from those markets. SCE president Andrew House said he was "very encouraged" by Western interest in the console.

Sony released a full list of PS Vita TV compatible titles in September.

Using the PS4 to stream to the Vita TV so it can be played on another big screen is a great feature.

The ad seemed extremely slow paced and long for a TV ad but I liked how it showed all the features for the device. It's a pretty incredible value being able to have access to all those apps and being able to stream content from the PS4. It has potential to do really well, I hope it does good in Japan so Sony can bring it to more countries.
