Forums - Gaming - Destiny won’t launch on PC

Lock if old. I want it to remain as console only. Even though I play games in PC and consoles I want bungie to polish the console versions.

Destiny won’t launch on PC over fears of spreading Bungie too thin, says Osborne

Destiny is an online shooter with MMO sensibilities, so it seems like a natural fit for the PC market. However, Bungie community manager Eric Osborne has stressed that it’s not the focus right now as it would spread the studio too thin.

It comes as part of an IGN interview, during which Osborne revealed that Bungie added fantasy elements to Destiny so people wouldn’t confuse it with Halo.

PCGamesN picked up on this nugget, which saw Osborne commenting on the future of Destiny on PC.

He said, “It’s a huge challenge to ship four platforms and a massive opportunity to reach a new audience. We know there are a lot of people out there asking for PC and we know that there are a lot of gamers that would willingly give us money, but what we have to do is make sure we’re focused enough to bring a good experience to any platform that we ship on.

“What we 100 percent are not going to do is spread ourselves so thin that it negatively harms the other platforms. So right now we have the four platforms, which is a lot to focus on.”

Would this be of interest after the console versions are out the door? Would you like to see Destiny get a PC release?

Bungie making the game on two stripped-down PC's and porting that code to PC would be spreading the company too thin? Sounds stupid, especially when THAT is the biggest market for anything online.

Their loss, really.

Dude wtf, PC can be a lead platforms and games can still be optimised on consoles but not the other way round, in fact it is better that way to develop on PC first.

Any mmo/shooter should be on a PC period, I bet you can't list even one compelling reason why it shouldn't be on PC.

Intel core i7 930 OC @ 4.0 ghz

XFX Double dissipation Radeon HD 7950 356 bit 3gb GDDR5 OC @ 1150 MHz core + 1575 x 4 memory

Triple channel DDR 3 12gb RAM 1600 MHz

Bullshit. Oh well, there still is Titanfall.

No shock, Bungie are not huge fans of PC development and market, they made their name on the 360 first and foremost.

Then I won't be buying it.

Well, that's disappointing. I might have to rethink my purchasing options. In my opinion, PC is the perfect place for games like this.

Still, I do understand. PC can be problematic to develop for because of all the bases you have to cover. With a console, you only have to worry about getting it to work on one setting and on one hardware configuration.
