@Poll: I'd say that it's a combination of factors.

The biggest problem for Nintendo is their vision. They fon't see themselves as an entertaining Co., they see themselves as toy makers for kids. That's why they don't develop mature games. They clearly admit it during their last investors meeting saying that they hadn't targeted kids enough. And that's fine... until you try to sell a toy that costs 300-350 $/€ and expect to succeed.

Remember that before the Wii, Nintendo consoles used to cost $200, almost half what they asked for WiiU. That clearly shows that Nintendo lost contact with the real world while trying to pursue their quest for innovation.

Then there are the game droughts at launch, something that still exist now but to a lesser extend given that after 1 year there are past games that can be bought between releases, at least for the newcomers.

And that brings me to the last problem, the price drops. Yes, officially there has only been one, but every store has made some of their own which, for a new console, is terrible in the eyes of the consumer. They are simply waiting to see how much it will fall in price until it stabilizes and they think about getting it, and while they wait, some will get the PS4 or X1 because they know they won't fall in price so soon (something that is true for Sony but not so much for MSoft).

As for marketing... I'll just say one word: terrible.

So, in brief, the Nintendo WiiU doesn't sell well because Nintendo did every possible mistake, and still has to find a way to fix most of them.

So, the twitch stream has come full circle. It has it's own religious divisions, political parties and now there's a terrorist group hellbent on releasing Bird Jesus and all the pokemons they've caught.

Since catching Zapdos, things have all gone downhill. I believe we're just days away before the implosion of the stream. Love the internet
