Well this is how I see it:

Saying a 3D platformer needs an isometric camera perspective is like saying a game needs 24fps for a cinematic experience.

If you ask me 60fps is objectively better, just like a non-isometric perspective in a platformer is better than an isometric perspective. But most of my problems stem from the controls anyway.

He never said "need" once.  I highly advise you do two things:  1) learn what an opinion is because your u have a nasty habit of pushing yours on people very hard and 2) drop this before it gets out of hand.  Because with your passive-agressive tone and you putting words in his mouth, this isn't going to end pleasantly.

How is that post aggresive?

Oh and opinions can be wrong. A totally unrelated example: saying gays are unnatural is an opinion... That is also wrong (proven by the fact that it can be found in many species).

Wow, you rank Sunshine pretty low yourself. What issues do you have with it? I`m just curious. Sunshine seems to often be mixed, which I don`t get why.

I'm pretty sure that's a bad comparison to "my enjoyment of SM3DW was hindered by the camera, therefore so was yours.". Which is essentially what you are telling him.  If he says he had no issues with the aspects you did, that's all there is to it.  If you want to call him an outright liar, than at least just come out and say it rather than trying to talk him into finding issue with the game.

I think that is a fair assessment.  No camera or gameplay style is perfect and games have to be designed for what they have.  The pseudo-fixed camera is probably something a lot of people balk at, just like some of the oddities of Sunshine.  But hey, that's what you get when a franchise is constantly in a state of experimentation.  IMO, it's worth it for that aspect alone.  Mario's constant tweaks and new takes are what keep it fresh.  Not every game will be a person's favorite, but the newness is half the excitement, IMO.  And this model also helps find that rare game that's the experience you never knew you wanted till bam, there it was.

You wouldn't buy it if they fixed a lot of flaws? Majora's Mask 3D had a lot of changes for example. Or Zero Mission...
