Well, I'm sure Nintendo at the time wasn't really sure how Amiibo will be received.. Remember all the rage "MORE PAID DLC?!" so it could have been a precaution.

But Nintendo still really needs to market better, they should have made a Smash Bros Wii U bundle without the amiibo =.=
