Kid Icarus and Metroid wouldn't mean you'd get just one or two characters (and stories)?
Of those Fire Emblem really is the best option: lots of games and characters to draw inspiration from.

Didn't Nintendo make Bowser absorv the cat power-up in Mario 3D World to fight with Mario in another way other than try to stomp Mario or nurn him with fire balls?  They could go crazy with the storyline!

Mario could punch and kick goombas in Mario 64 though.

But even if it happened the game wouldn't be your common Musou game - which would be more than fine for me!

Of those Fire Emblem really is the best option: lots of games and characters to draw inspiration from.
