Forums - Sales - Nintendo in France

I was checking the latest European charts and something called my attention

This may be just a fun fact, but in Europe Nintendo seems to be more popular in France than in England and Germany, both hardware and software.

Among the 75 best sellers games, there are 4 WiiU games in Germany, 4 in UK, while in France there are 8.

The WiiU install base in Europe is currently bigger in France (although only slighest bigger than UK). As for 3DS software, the biggest buyers are the British, but 3ds ranks only 3rd in that market, while in France it ranks 2nd.

Of course the French market is not as big as the British, but the numbers suggest that, giving the proportions of each one, Nintendo seems to be doing better in France.

Is there anything different about the French market towards Nintendo ? Or is this just circunstantial?

Around the Network

What were the games out of curiosity? Maybe NOF put better emphasis on the factor that it actually is a successor to the Wii? I doubt it's to do with attach rates as I'm sure Germany became GT5's best-selling region in terms of individual countries.

Although, as a Brit myself, and looking back at the first year of the 3DS, realistically I think I already know what it comes down to.....

The average "soccer-mom" here: "I'm not fackin' tu 'undred fifty quid for a Wii with a tablet!".

Honestly, you'd be surprised at how dense our market is concerning new electronic products without a greater number explicitly on the end of them.

France is now indicted into my favourite country list. I will put a poster of it in my bedroom.
