Forums - Sony - Genius Sony Marketing.... (Why they Released Games/DualShock Early)

From one side this seems genius indeed, but from the other, I kinda dislike the concept of "whoa, CoD PS4!" while the console isn't around anywhere and still isn't available... awareness yes, but is it a good awareness?

I don't see how it could be bad.  If they don't know the release date from every commercial and from the numerous posters that are probably everywhere in said store or at least in its electronic section then they only have themselves to blame.  Also who buys the game without getting the console?  Are they going to go somewhere else for the console after they get the software for it?

Why is it smart? The PS4's are all accounted for. So unless you think people who won't have the PS4 are buying these things then it doesn't matter. COD is a game everyone already planned out where they are playing. This makes no difference other than PS4 owners who want COD can get it now.

Your theory makes sense. I think Sony is trying a different strategy. Instead of releasing everything on ps4 launch where consumer be spending lots of money on the console, games and extra controller on one night/day. They spread it out so that consumers can buy it throughout the weeks before the ps4 launch day. This way gamers wont feel like they are spending a load of money in one day.
Plus this will also give gamers who didnt buy bundles get a chance to buy the games they want without fearing of games selling out or not in stock. But hats my theory.

It's somewhat teasing people is what I'm saying.

Yeah everyone, what were you thinking, everyone knows the only thing anyone goes in to a game store for is COD, its not like kids or teens will see ps4 products already on sale and be talking about the console or buying controllers cameras accessories and games in the run up to Christmas for the console they are getting, or adults and teens buying ps4 related stuff for friends and family they know are buying or getting a ps4, everyone knows only cod players buy things.

Incase you have problems understanding, that's sarcasm.

I think it's more to spread out shipments and ease consumer congestion. The systems are already sold (90% at the very least) at this point, so exposure isn't even an issue.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

well I would like to get my hands on a ps4 controller. I could jump ship if it felt useable. but that exposure doesn't exist were I live. what I buy has to be a firm decision based on what I see online. What I see online is the x1's controller will be basically the same and the ps4 controller is better than before but I hated the ps3 controller so much it's too much of a gamble.

^Yes that's me ripping it up in the GIF. :)

More like Sony's idea of a cruel joke. Allowing gamers to get their hands on games AND the controller without the console!

Pure evil I tell you.

Well it worked on me lol........
