2TB by the end of this gen will be dirt cheap, but I see your point... now it's not really a choice they can't use the disc drive to run the games.... a 2TB disc in any of those console or a 15X BR drive would have made the XBoss or PS way too expensive....

so the question is more were we ready to pay even more than 400 to 500 bucks for a console??? or did we want less massive and ambitious games ????

in all honnesty I'm perfectly fine with the 500GB and then I can choose my own solution than being forced to have their overprice 2TB in the box....

you can easily find a 2TB HDD for under a 100 bucks today (granted just the drive)  you can get SSHD for less than 200 today... so yeah by the time I will really need something more than 500GB it will be affordable... and the convenience of having an external solution beats having 2TB in the box... what am I suppose to do if I wanna game at a friends house ??? bring my own XB or DL again the games ??? and I'll put way more than just my games on that HDD...

I really don't see the big deal, it is the best option both console chose, considering tomorrow's game requirements, at least the best for consumers... most of them won't even reach the 500GB and the one that do will probably have way more than a 1TB external HDD by 2020 (I had 3TB spread on 5 computers with small sub 500GB drives in RAID in the late 90's early 2000's)

so yeah they expect you to buy a 2TB disc, then again I expect anybody with data requirement such as movies, pictures, and other types of data need to have at least 1TB standard by the end of this decade.... in other word I expect miss congeniality to have a 1TB external HDD by 2020 to store her legally blond movie collection in HD, her REAL HOUSWIVES ultra marathon... and her collection of Brittney spears albums and DVD.....

again I really don't see the issue ??? my first contact with a computer was an MO5 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomson_MO5 look at those specs and look where we are barely 30 years later ???  

not really for having been in the PC building hobby for a while, I today wouldn't switch to a high end PC set up even if I could get it for free compared to console.... yeah sure you get the best quality performance possible.... but I like to compare it to cars... high end PCs are like the Formula one of gaming.... yet you don't drive to work in a Formula 1 I'd rather have a nice confy sedan for that... meaning I'd rather have a simple set up I don't need to maintain that is completely closed with all my entertainement needs easy to access than use a PC  no matter how good the output will be.... I don't want to have to use a K/M to navigate an cluttered multitaking OS and folders and files in my living room to watch a movie or play a game....

especially since I don't have a 4K TV... so anything outputting more than 1080p at 60fps is completely useless in my living room.... so yeah for true all in one familly entertainement I wouldn't get a PC ever.... now that said I'd be fine with one in my man cave :D

Probably will be like 360, you will be able to change it for one of a specific model with higher capacity (used on a more expensive SKU), so when they launch Ones with 750GB or 1TB you will be able to change the drive for the model used on that SKUs.

then again with USB 3 and looking at the fact that installs seem mandatory I'd rather have an external drive... It will be way easier to move my library around that way..

You can attach and use any external HDD of any size. What you on about. I have a USB 3.0 2 tb HDD ready for Xbox One. Cost me 50 quid.

Looking at the installs I am pretty sure there will be games the next gen coming on two double layer Blurays with 100gb installs. I guess FF 15 could be such a game.
