Forums - Sony - No Street Date on PS4 Accessories? DualShock 4 Now Please!!!

I walked into my local GameStop to preorder Killzone: Shadowfall, Knack, and an extra DualShock 4, and the GameStop employee had trouble finding DualShock 4s on the preorder list in his computer.  He thought it might be because they don't take preorders since they already had them.  With no street date on them, he went to the back and got me one.

It. Feels. Awesome.

Edit: For the record, my PS4 console preorder is through Amazon.

how does it compare to the 360's and DS3's?

In the short time I spent with it (I was on my lunch break at work), the biggest noticible difference is how it fits in your hands.  It's a very comfortable feel where your hands feel like they're in a very natural position.  Compared to the DualShock 3, my hands don't feel like they're at as much of an awkward angle andmore, and my entire palms feel wrapped around the controller rather than there being a lot of room to play.

The surface of the touchpad feels very nice.  I was worried that it wouldn't lend to fluid touch motions, though the coating lets my finger slide quite easily without much friction.  The click on it is tactile but not overly "clicky" if that makes much sense.  Enough feedback to know you clicked it.  The share and options buttons have a softer click to them.  They're obviously the least accessible buttons, but I think their placement is right.

The PS button is still a soft push, as are all face buttons.  I didn't spend a ton of time with the D-Pad, but it felt good.  The analog sticks are nice.  I do like the concave feel and though the controller is larger, the sticks feel tighter--not in spring, but in placement and feel.  Really small adjustments in spacing and the new physical design of the sticks makes the whole thing feel more under control.

The triggers are nice too.  I was never a huge complainer of the triggers on the DualShock 3 (not a huge FPS guy), but I can see how these are better.

Overall, everything just feels more natural.

I really like the audio jack on the bottom (built in speaker is nice too), and there is another auxilary port next to it.  The charging port is up top by the light bar.

Oh, and when I pressed the PS button the lightbar flashed white (obviously polling for a PS4 to connect to) and I got far more excited than any 31 year old should be over such a thing.

To be fair, I haven't played enough XBox to offer a fair comparison.

lulz.

like sessler said, he always though the 360 was the better controller because of the analog position but it turns out it was just ergonomics.  i'm soo looking forward to the DS4.

Street Date 29th November in Germany. Amazon shows it without any problems.
