Xbox One será fabricado no Brasil, aponta Anatel

Novo modelo do Xbox 360

Xbox One will be manufactured in Brazil, Anatel

UOL, in São Paulo

  • Photos of Anatel's approval indicate the model of appliance and ... national manufacturing!

As well as the older brother Xbox 360, the Xbox One will also be manufactured in Brazil.

The information came through the website of Anatel, which offers publicly the data of approval of the product in the national territory.

In the photos you can see the device external seal with the information "Produced in the industrial pole of Manaus. To view, simply access the official website of Anatel and put the number in the nº 3090131569 Accreditation. Click here to download the instruction manual in the Xbox One.

The Xbox One Starter package will come with the Brazilian, a control console, the new Kinect, a headset and a HDMI cable.

Given this, apparently, is easier to understand because the Xbox One has a price so inferior compared to the PlayStation 4, which sells for $ 3,999 in Brazil -although in the u.s. the Xbox One costs $ 500 against $ 400 of the PS4.

National production

The Xbox 360 is manufactured in Brazil from September 2011, which resulted in a 40% drop in the price of the videogame and gave Microsoft about 65% of market dominance, according to Gfk, a situation that only began to change in the middle of this year, when Sony began to assemble the PS3 in national territory.

New model of the Xbox 360

The website of Anatel also points out that the Xbox 360 and nicknamed "Super Slim", will be manufactured in Brazil. The unit, newer version of the current console from Microsoft, was presented to the public at E3 this year.

The device appears in three approvals on the website of Anatel, but unable to verify details about the different packages of the Xbox 360 "Super Slim".

Sought by UOL Games, Microsoft says no comment on the matter and only speak about plans for Xbox One in Brazil in his press conference on BGS 2013, which takes place on Friday (25) morning.

Right, but that also creates local jobs.  Which I think is usually good for a country.

That's why they have those protectionist high terrifs.  So people well either have to pay a bunch, or companies will open manufacturing centers there.

I think it's actully mostly assembly as the chips are made all over the place.  But hey, still more jobs for people in Brazil and helps stabilize their economy.  I also belive those are then exported across South America so fewer resources spend on shipping the finished consoles. It's a sizable investment Microsoft is putting into Brazil.

It will also mean that the price of the Xbox One in Brazil will drop soon.

If it made economic sense for the PS4 to be made in Brazil then Sony would be doing that.

And this kind of protectionism will only lead to other nations having better justification for their own retaliatory actions harming the Brazilian export market and making things worse for everyone.

Not to mention the Xbox One is still absurdly more expensive in Brazil than other nations because of Brazil's other taxes. Brazil is a bit of a contradiction as they are a developing nation with the PPP of their money being less than the standard global purchasing power.

Not sure what you are refering to in Brazil, you must have missed Ethomaz thread.  Curren the Xbox One is $833 US dollars less expensive than the PS4.  The PS4 R$3.999 thats $1,833, Xbox ONE R$2.200 = $1,008 USD.

I assume the price will drop by approximately 40% or so when they Brazil manufactured ones hit the market.

Sony started making PS3's there in 2011.  I'm sure they will eventually, but right now ALL PS4's are made in China. They aren't even making them in Japan.

Note: the USA has similar protectional tarrifs on sugar and corn, which is why they put high fructose corn syrup in everything.  Cause the taxes on sugar and the subsidies for corn adjust the prices.

That's your chance Ethomaz!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I meant the Xbox One in brazil is more expensive than the ones in other nations by far.

Sony probably only manufactured PS3's in Brazil because of taxes and not because of the efficiency of the manufacturing industry in Brazil. This is bad from a global perspective because for one it encourages similar policies by other nations, the local industry now has less reason to become more efficient to compete, foreign manufactures lose business despite being better at it and the Brazillian PS4 gamers now have to pay more because their local and less efficient industry has a monopoly.

And yes the tariffs that the USA has are harmfull to the Brazil export industry, along with many other nations, and all they do is allow for inneficient industries in local nations to aviod competing with competitive ones overseas. Brazil should be looking to reduce the barriers to manufactuing locally rather than slapping taxes on imports. But other nations can always add more sadly.

Brazilian girls are hot. Just the thought of a Brazilian hottie touching my big black beast and sticking it in the box, excites me.

Off topic: The new 360 models are cheap little pieces of shit. I bought one because I thought it would feel next gen by design. Boy was I wrong. The power and eject button are hard to press. They aren't touch based and don't make sounds anymore when pressed. Video out redesigned so older video out options aren't available anymore, such as the VGA adapter. These are the first 360s that actually took a few steps back, considering how every 360 model before that added new features and better build quality. Now the original Xbox 360 slim, love, love, LOVE IT! It'd the definitive 360 model to have.
