In my view, the subtraction of a strong racing game at launch is bad, especially when you consider a racer like Forza 5 on the competing platform, but launching a poorly made game is worse. Luckily there are other racers to fill the void. After playing games like Genji 2 and Perfect Dark 0, I say it is best to polish those games as much as possible instead of just releasing them early. I'm content with one or two good (retail) exclusives and strong multiplat games (as long as there's a steady stream of games in the following months). This might be a better move for DC as well. I was getting the feeling it would be overlooked at launch and people would forget about it later.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I don't want to spend 400 euros to play games I can play on 360, too. Killzone looks good, yes! But this is *one* game for 450+ euros! No thanks. Perhaps I have to clarify: I don't buy games at release. I wait until they drop in price. DC was perfect for me as it was free. I am a racing fan and I always had a "horizon feeling" with DC which I loved. So I could've tested the new controller, the graphics, the sharing stuff... All that is interesting with a new console.

As I said, I still didn't cancel my preorder... Perhaps I will use it as an expansive bluray-player until the good games come

Even if you normaly don't buy games at release (I'm reluctant to buy games for over 40 € myself), you should try to get the DriveClub-Coupon for your PS4 order. Then you get the full retail version of DriveClub (with an additional coupon inside for 6 month PS+) for under 20 €:

Write to the Amazon-support, if you didn't get the coupon automatically. And if you really don't like the game, you can sell it for probably much more than the 20 €.

I was still looking forward to getting it sometime in December though, but I wasn't that impressed by it when they started showing game play footage. It was a little too arcadey for my tastes (think Forza 1 + 2, or Ridge Racer).

I am the Playstation Avenger.

It's not going to affect it on the level that some people are making it out to be and let's be honest in saying that the only people who will really take this badly are the apparently few people who wanted the retail version of Driveclub on Day 1. Games being delayed is rather common but people get over it. That article is also far more shame on Target than Sony, if it even proves to be true. Amazon was honoring pre-orders of Watch Dogs bundles by still sending the console. Target couldn't work with Sony to do the same?

In a post in the other thread I said that one reason it may have been delayed is so it looks as if Sony is publishing more games.  There's already a large number of games coming out on launch, so people won't really miss one game when there's 10+ retail titles for both consoles. Early next year when there's less coming out, one extra game there instead of launch will look like they're supporting the system more.

I mentioned that as well somewhere.  Both in chat and on VGC.  Sony really doesn't have much announced for the first half of next year and I expect a significant dropoff after the holidays because of that.  They have InFamous but that is all we know of. (As far as I am aware)

there will be a significant dropoff after holidays because it's after holidays, not because of less games.

No, it will also be because the hype died down.  You will see a sales spike for InFamous but that is about it I believe.  PS4 has nothing announced for PS4 next year that will push hardware.  Most likely be after E3 (Possibly holiday) for any more sale spikes.  Until then it will be relying onr 3rd party multiplats to push it.

Maybe not exclusive, but there is Destiny in spring, and like Watch Dogs, was principally promoted with ps4

As I said they will be relying on Multiplat for the majority of the year.

Considering that the PS4 will be the cheaper option for most of those multiplatform games, I don't think it will have trouble selling without it's own retail exclusive content for a few months. That's also assuming that none of the third-party Japanese exclusives that were announced in September release in the West and barring any possible announcements of Q2 2014 releases.

The thing is, and this goes for XBO as well, many of the third party multiplat games are also on current gen.  Even though they are clearly better on next gen we don't know if they will push hardware when they can be bought on current gen as well. It will be up to the customers view on if the upgraded versions are worth the $400-500 entry fees.
