A lot of native England speakers are idiots. They say one thing not realising they are saying the wrong word and then write it out anyway.

I wouldn't go that far. I'm sure that they're just careless because it's the internet (same with texting). As someone who has to write in academic English all the time, posting online is pretty awesome, as you can post anything without having to worry about every minor detail.

"Could care less" about this topic.

Edit: Lol I swear I saw the answer in the poll after writing this

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

No, nothing to do with the internet. Bought and brought is a common mistake, was when I was at school and is now. Many of the general populace do not know the difference.

It's usually a case that many people who learn the English language have a better grasp for certain words, sentences or structure because they have to get it right to pass their test (else a slight mistranslation could lead to something like the 'Reed Sea' being the 'Red Sea'). Yet native speakers don't go through the same testing so a 'brought' in an essay will get a red circle around it but won't affect the mark and will be instantly forgotten.

Hmm, pie.

If I had a penny for every time someone posted that he "brought" a game, I'd probably be able to buy a new game. Now, I'm not a native speaker and I had assumed that in some countries it is completely acceptable to use "bring instead of "buy", but I looked it up and it seems to be just carelessness.

Anyone know why it's such a common mistake? I get the "I could care less" kind of mistakes, because people say that all the time, but does anyone say that they "brought a tv"?

If you find an example post maybe you could post it?  Was it something like "my friend brought it over" which just means a friend came over with something or "I brought The Last of Us day one." which is a spelling error.

Oh, no. It definitely wasn't anything like that. It was more like "I brought Muramasa rebirth yesterday for 20 quid". Since it's a digital item, I doubt there is a way to "bring" it somewhere.

Ok, here's an example from another website:

Not the best example, as it has several typos.

Here's another one.

Oh alright.  Don't have much of a reply.  Just that you're right.  :p.

I would say it's mostly auto-correct slipping that r in there.

Actually, that makes perfect sense. Thanks!

Brought? really? Thats dumb.

But maybe all the people are like Doug Heffernan and are IPS drivers so they literally brought the games to other peoples houses.

Hope I could help :)

Apparently, it's much more common than I thought, but I wouldn't call it dumb. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Its-Bought-not-Brought-you-Dumb-Fuck/314266841998296
