Forums - Gaming - Tetsuya Nomura Thinks the PS4 is “Too Much”; 8 GB RAM Will Help Considerably with Kingdom Hearts III

Keyblade me if old.

Sony Computer Entertainment published a new interview with Director Tetsuya Nomura aboutKingdom Hearts III, as part of the “Conversations with Creators” series.

During the interview Nomura was asked what he thought of the PS4, and his answer was quite funny and interesting at the same time:

I thought “That’s too much” (laughs)

The expression he used is “yari sugida na”, which means exactly that. He continued by explaining that the console offers a lot of possibilities in the things you can do, but it’s also a challenge, as developers will have to decide what they can use and what they can’t, and expectations are increased.

He also mentioned that the PS4′s sizable RAM “helps a lot” because thanks to it the world can be made as seamless as possible and more data can be permanently resident in the memory. The number of actions, animations and effects can be increased.

The power of the PS4 also increases the ability to make full use of a considerable variety of actions in wide areas, and to fight a large number of enemies.

The use of the features of the DualShock 4 hasn’t been decided yet, but Nomura would like to use the touchpad in some way. He’s also considering the use of external devices as companions, like the PS Vita and tablets, but nothing has been finalized on that yet, as development is still at a rather early stage.

You can check out the full interview just below and a detailed summary of the whole Q&A here. If you still didn’t watch it, you can also enjoy the full gameplay trailer of Kingdom Hearts IIIreleased yesterday.

That's his next big gameplay inovation.  The characters zippers now act as their life bars.  The more damage you take, the more they unzip.  Genius!

If it doesnt profit and no more sequels come out - I'll just move on plain and simple.

Not like its the first franchise to be put on frozen status. Specifically from Squareenix we have Valkyrie Profile, Mana series and the FFTactics sub series are prime examples that will probably not have anymore sequels (but ports to other platforms are possible). Same thing can be said about Star Ocean.

Nonetheless you agree that it's better for a franchise to be still alive, right ? ^_^

That applies to every single franchise though. Regardless of it being a first party or third party.

Thats the best thing about being a open minded consumer and not be attached to one brand or franchise. The options and alternatives are limitless.

True enough.

Why would I worry when Xillia sold 100k+ in the US in its first month? lol.

We'll see what xillia 2 can do.
