I do not think this is true.

Why would someone spend money to attract such a small audience?

Probably to attract the family audience from Nintendo to go up against Xbox.

Misinform customers and get them to buy a PS4/Vita combo bundle? So.... Sony's going to sell this bundle to a whole 10 people?  It's been out long enough that people already know what the Wii U is, and if people wanted it they'd have it.  I doubt there's really anyone left to misinform.

They want the Vita to succeed, plus I'm guessing Nintendo gamers would prefer Playstation over Xbox. Also, one should aim efforts against the weak (read 'The Art of War'), and right now Nintendo seems the easier target.

So, Sony wants to take the family audience from Nintendo and bring it to the PS4/Vita.

I ask... with what IP? Knack? Nintendo has a lot of family friendly games that sell a lot! Because some stores try to give false information about the Wii U they are not going to threaten Nintendo.

As long as Sony doesn't have the same family friendly IP that Nintendo has they aren't going anywhere trying to "steal the family friendly audience".

very credible source i see. i user named NitenDomination would never ever post rumors that would make sony look back. this is TRUTHFACT

He is a youtuber very passionate about Nintendo and reviewing games and he also gets invited to the Nintendo HQ in germany for trying games. He wouldn't lie. His source maybe. I bet if the article was about Microsoft doing this you would believe it right away.

This is good. Will bring some attention to Wii U.

Where the hell is Nintendo on this, by now they should beware that the media are dogging their console as the jester of the industry. In a leak source back in Spring, Nintendo said they were going to heavily advertise the system after the second major update. .....Where the marketing, would a make since to maarket after the $50 price drop. Come on Nintendo, get it together.

If this is true, things are about to get interesting....one question, why Nintendo? Microsoft seem to be your biggest competitor right now. To make it short, it's going to be Sega vs Nintendo vs Sony all over again, except Sony doesn't have Crash anymore (No mascot) and Sega is out of the console business.

Sony's been doing stuff like this since they got in the console game.  You'd think the legion of Sony fans that will spend every hour of the day for zero pay would have already done enough.  Sorry guys, it's time to pay the professionals.

Oh well, it wouldn't really be that different from Microsoft and Apple going at each other with their various ad-campaigns if true. The difference here is that Nintendo doesn't care what Sony does. They know they wouldn't have to retaliate because regardless of what Sony would say or advertise, they'll NEVER have Mario, Zelda, Pokemon or ANYTHING even CLOSE to the lineup of Nintendo's first-party franchises.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Back in the day when I asked a "Media Markt" employee about the newly available Dreamcast he told me to just ignore it and bluntly told me to wait for the PS2. At some point there were also some other marketing people that actively tried to persue people to buy the PS2. So it wouldn´t surprise me this new rumor to be true.
I had a friend that was the store manager of an Electronics Boutique in the 90's.  He told me that Sony (or their marketing firm) hired secret shoppers to go into video game stores and ask about a competing system.  If the sales associate would try to steer the customer towards Sony's system instead, they could win prizes...even trips.  The whole secret shopper thing was well know (again, I'm sure by Sony) so whenever people would go into the store to ask about a competing console, the sales associate would try to steer the customer towards Sony, because you just never know who that customer might be.  Pretty slimy when you think about it.
I have had every system that Sony has released....along with everyone any of the others have released.  At this point in time, I have zero plans on picking up a PS4 and won't be getting a Xbox One anytime soon either.
