Forums - Gaming - Xbox One and PS4 Handheld

Yes, yes we already have the Vita.  BUt Ive been thinking that this could be done in a much cheaper way.  I do want to clarify right now that this is not a hand held to take out with you but instead just Remot Play on your phones.

Nightsurge posted a phoneclip a few days ago and it got me thinking.  If they added remote play on Xbox and PS4 with phones, just allow your phone show everything that your TV does then you could essentually have a handheld device in your house for Xbox and PS4 that would be pretty cheap.  Personally I would love it if they did this or if somebody made an app that would allow this to happen.

What does everybody think?

i've been thinking of the same thing for a while now :P

you would need a wifi connection to make this work which, imo, destroys most of the value of a portable. most of the time i play vita i don't have internet access. if i do have internet access,..i probably have access to a tv (aka at my in-laws house) ergo i would rather have remote access to smart TVs.

I hope the people bashing the WiiU pad won't say this is a good idea...

It is my favorite thing about my WiiU since day one xD  Wish they had that feature with every game though.  Even though most games look better on my tv there is times i just want to lay in bed and play a game.

i dont even see the comparison.

Well some games have that remote play type function.  Example would be New Super Mario Bros U where you have the option to play it on TV or your gamepad.  Essentially it would be what i am talking about though it may work differently from a technical stand point.

Of course this could technically work, but I doubt it would be as good of quality as people want.

You could diy this though with one of those fancy wireless hdmi cords. Just need a phone with hdmi in.

No wait actually this should be nativly possible with a loophole.

On ps4 start brodcasting the game. On your smartphone sign in with a different profile and watch the stream. Click the phone onto the ds4 and you're good to go!

Eh...

I know.  AS I said, I dont see the compariosn

One is a "dumb terminal" to stream only WiiU games and WiiU content.

The other is a use of mobile phones (already massively mutitasking devices) to stream content from your PS4 AND your ONE.

Multitasking or not is not the question here. (And there are enough people still without smartphones. Me being one of them.)

Displaying console games on a smaller screen is what it's about. (Not a must-have, but sometimes useful feature.)

And if somebody who bashed the WiiU pad says that this is great, then he's a hypocrite, especially since the WiiU pad works more seamlessly as it ever could on a smartphone.
