Sony released PS+ sales figures a while back that leads to estimated only 2-3 million PS+ subscribers.

Internet would make you think much differently, but alas this low figure is the reality.

source?

It was a thread on here a while back. I'm on my phone so I'm not going to do all the simply google search work for you.

Google "playstation plus revenue". There are articles saying it made $140 million in 2012. I can't remember for sure if that was the revenue figure or profits or if there was something else, but it was generally agreed on here in that thread that it meant only 2-3 million PS+ subscribers.

$140,000,000 / $50 per sub = 2.8 million subs

that wasnt sony confirming it. that was estimates done by another company. in no way official.

I'm surprised I'm the only one to vote neither.

I've had less trouble with multiplayer on ps3 then 360. I only had gold the first year of 360 though, continuous disconnects, incompatible NAT errors, and annoying people had me cancel gold.
ps3 slowly regained my trust in online multiplayer with burnout paradise and gt5p.

I think the $140m figure was from Sony. The other $1.2bn figure was an estimate for future psn+ after PS4 launch.

So the numbers above still stand.

they dont stand because you "think" they are official. provide a source and official data and then they do.

Now that I'm home and not on my phone, I guess I'll finish doing the work for you. There's the thread. You are correct that it was an estimate from a research firm, not direct from Sony.

However, the numbers still stand, because as I mentioned every single time, from the beginning post that you quoted, that the 2-3 million members was an estimate. The only difference was that it was not Sony directly who said it.

Pretty much everyone accepted that this is a realistic estimate. Even if we were being generous, giving it 5 million members, that's still very far from being 50% of Xbox Live members as Landguy originally speculated.

Dedicated servers are free on Xbox so ms wins

"The analyst team estimates that Sony made just $140 million from PS Plus subscriptions in 2012," right from the OP. as i been saying, these numbers are far from official, and  just estimates.

That's what the 2-3 million members was. As I said multiple times.

the reputation system is interesting but i have to laugh at the 48,000,000 number. the real numbers are:

ps+ on ps4: 0
xbl on xbone: 0

Both accounts will carry over though, right? At the moment you're right.
