Forums - Nintendo - Ubisoft Working On Secret Games For Nintendo Wii

Until Ubisoft's efforts back up what they say, then I will take them seriously. But now every thing that they say is nothing but words. Over a year has passed since Red Steel launched and Ubisoft has not developed a decent game for the Wii since. I'm not talking about a AAA game but an average game. Yet they've announced games for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Here's to hoping but I know Ubisoft will let me down and announce My word Coach 2: The French edition as their big Wii game. It's hard to expect something great from a crapware company.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Here's hoping for an exclusive SC. DA wasn't created ground up for the Wii and the controls really suffered for it. If they can start fresh on a Wii game and use gestures ala MOH:H2 it could turn out quite nice.

This announcement causes me to compare Ubisoft with Detective Gumshoe from Phoenix Wright. They mean well (all their support despite against the odds) but they usually don't do the brightest thing (Red Steel). However, they keep trying, and they're always good for a good time.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

UbiSoft has always been the Wii's biggest third party supporter. However more recently they have much like Nintendo and every other Wii publisher shifted over to developing casual games. So the idea that UbiSoft sees the hardcore market as a potential gold mine is reason for great exitement.

UbiSoft's examples Red Steel and Legend Of Zelda are both very bad examples. Because both were launch games and one is a best selling first party franchise. Even Wind Waker viewed by many (Morons) as the worst Zelda game made sold millions on whats viewed by many (Idiots) as the worst of the last generation consoles. So regardless any Zelda game is going to top the charts.

RedSteel was also a launch title and the only shooter on a console built perfectly for shooters. Another advantage was the features UbiSoft claimed would be in the game but ended up being dropped. Such as real motion sword play at E3 they said your sword would move with the controller but upon release all it was, was three moves that alternated depending on your Wiimote movements. UbiSoft really promoted RedSteel and together with launch hype and misconceptions it managed to sell alot more copies then it should have.

That being said hardcore games are needed and a well done RedSteel2 or an action adventure game like Zelda would be amazing. I would love to see UbiSoft be the bigger man and give us hardcore gamers some hardcore games.

However I wish it was UbiSoft Montreal that was charged with bringing us an exclusive new Wii hardcore game. I also hope UbiSoft developes its own physics and graphics engine for the games they are getting ready to release recycled engines from last generation are shaming the Wii!

a new rayman platformer would make me happy

A ramon platformer would be a great business move for UBI.... Seeing how well the RRR and RRR2 have been selling, it would appear Ramon could do well on the Wii.
