Oh cmon. Really? Has beat em ups genre gone down the drain?
A really good beat em up comes along, gets glowing previews and hands on, is a long awaited sequel that lives up to its name and noone is getting this?
Fighting games are becoming a niche genre. Games like Killer Instinct will sell over time when people get their hands on it. I can't wait for this game, I love fighting games and this christmas I'll be kicking asses (or get my ass kicked hehe) with KI and party with Kinect Sports S2. Might get Ryse too. I'm glad they release this at launch because I think multiplayer games are the best.

These coming weeks will probably be as long as the weeks before Halo 4. o_o
I loved KI when I was younger but I think there are some people who are put off from this game for a few reasons. First, it's only going to be a partial game when it launches. Six characters, an online mode, and a practice mode. Granted, it's pricetag will reflect that and that's certainly a good thing. However, it's hard for people to get excited about an upcoming game that is so bare bones. I, for example, am much more interested in how the game will be a year from now.
There's also the fact that some people who are old KI fans are disappointed that finishing your opponent has been gutted down to either just smacking them until their health runs out or trying to pull off an ultra combo. Where are the ultimates? Where are the No Mercy kills? Where are the humiliations? How about a new way to finish the fight? They've only said they're looking into it but so far, as far as I know, nothing has been said about it. Of course this is a minor concern to most but for some older KI fans it's rather disappointing.
Then, as Jazz pointed out, fighting games just are not as popular as they used to be. Fighting games are already difficult enough to get sales for but now you're talking about an exclusive. Unless this game turns out to be something truly spectacular I would expect way more people to be looking at games like Titanfall or any open-world games. Those are pretty much the hotness anymore. That being said, I myself will be keeping an eye on this game and seeing how it progresses as more is added to it.
This game is the only reason that i want to get an xbox one, it is tooo good and i'm really jealous of people getting an xbox one day one as they get this awesome fighting game to play

This game looks soooo fun. I'm not sure I have the patience I had back in the KI:Gold days to learn all those combos. The players were really uneven in this stream, Player 2 wiped the floor with Player 1.
Signature goes here!
I will check it out to see how it has come along, hopefully it has little more polish.

Because most of the original KI fans probably have no intention of getting a XBone, but even if they did this game is butchering all the classic characters with new designs that may as well make them new characters, and if all new characters may as well be a different IP. Plus the game will have barely any characters, plus the game is releasing in what is probably the single worst way to release a fighting game. |
I have the 2 games in the OP sat on my shelf. I probably layed more KI thanmost people here.
KI for The One looks like a brilliant move forward to the series. Great artwork and fantastic speed. The character design is really good. The old design of Thunder would not look good or work today. The game has been moved well into 2013. All the previews are highly positive for this title. So no yelling CCCCC Combo Breaker isnt the only thing that is making this game a must have.
The gameplay and visuals are getting great praise. Thats all that matter right there.
