Why are people obsessed with MS making a loss on Xbox over 6+ years ago??? It's dumb. Pure and simple. The division has been profiting for the last 6 years. So what's more important? it's a sunk cost and means jack.

It's actually pretty important. Let's say they continue this trend of losing money on their Xbox division; it's far more likely that investors will want to close that division then. As I understand it, the Xbox brand as a whole have lost more money than MS has earned (I could be wrong, but that's what I keep hearing) in the long run, and that can not continue.

I think that's why ppl keeps bringing it up; losing money is never a good thing. They're fine today, but how about tomorrow?

You mean at least 5 years? MS didn't start to make profit with 360 before 2008... and I'm a little sceptical with 2008 too

No 6. The E&D has profited for 6 years and is in its 7th year of profit. Made $445m~ in FY 08 (which started in 07)

That's a good point because every financial article about MS says they make zero profit with Xbox/Kinect and losses a lot of money with online division.

I know what are the results from the division but are you sure they have profit with 360? Or Live? Everything is bullshit?

MS is trying to change the way they did the business with 360 now with Xbone... another kind of 360 will make they get out of the business... that's what I think.
