Interesting, I thought this was talking about the possibility of buying a game and downloading it to both PC and XB1 (I guess that's cross-buy not cross-play) that would be more enticing for me as I'm not a multiplayer game fan so this doesn't really affect me - however it would be nice for those that are.

Sounded like he meant towards the end only if Xbox live was supported on that platform, which would require the resurrection of GFWL (or similar) and devs buying into it this time.

Depends on the game. Try that with FPS and you'd have console players getting slaughtered left and right.

PC players, on the other hand, would probably be split between those who welcome the carnage and those upset at having their hallowed ground soiled by the non-elite.

I think it's a good possibility. Nintendo is looking into cross plat play as well. I think it would be amazing if they (MS, Sony and Nintendo) found a way to make all multiplat games cross platform play also.

I can just imagine the epic battles online between Sony and MS fans on games like COD or BF4. I think it can be a pretty awesome feature.

Sony already allow cross play with PC, there are such titles on PS3, the politics of allowing it between consoles is a minefield. 

I currently play FF14 with on my PS3 with PC peeps, although i find the PC people tend to talk down to PS3 players, i find it easier to just pretend im on PC and they cant tell hehe. 

Awesome, I did not know that. I do know there are a few games coming to Wii U that are cross play with PC, Mac, Android and IOS.  I think it's a feature that will become a lot more popular especially if they manage to bring cross play with all next gen home consoles.

playing portal 2 co-op with my steam buddies on ps3 was great.

...community based games need communities and the best way to do that, imo, is to connect all the various communities together. i should be able to have ps4, xbone, wiiU, and PC multiplayer all connected together.

cant see it happening tho, how can MS sell Xbox live and claim 300,000 servers with people playing them from there Wii U who arent paying. 

Im sure they all will play with PC nice, but will it lead to the next set of exclusive content. Which PC games have exclusive MP with which console!
