Forums - Nintendo - Sonic Lost World runs in Native 720p Upscaled to 1080p on Wii U, 3DS Version runs at 30fps

Tilmen from Nintendomination has confirmed to Playeressence that Sonic Lost World on Wii U runs in native 720p, upscaled to 1080 at 60fps. The 3DS version runs in 30fps.

Here is the exact quote from Tilmen on Sonic Lost World for the Wii U and 3DS.

“(Wii U) game runs in 720p with 60 fps. Upscaled to 1080p. 3DS version runs with 30fps. The cut scenes video compressions on 3DS are very bad and they look even worse with 3D ON. Ingame graphics are awesome ^o^….especially on WiiU

This is what I was expecting. To keep 60fps, 720p is probably the better option. It seems like the 3DS version is suffering a bit from compression, but still manages to look good. From the footage Tilmen posts on Nintendomination, Sonic Lost World looks fantastic on Wii U, imagine how good it will look on your TV. The best part is that its locked in 60fps. Smooth framerates are essential to the Sonic gameplay formula.

Sonic Lost World launches on October 18th in Europe. North America gets the game on October 29th.

720@60. Nice, just what I would be hoping for. 60fps is nice for Sonic.

Too bad the 3DS version sounds meh technically speaking. Hopefully it plays as nicely as the Wii U version.

60fps is much more important than 1080p. 720p to 1080p isn't a big difference unless you sit too close or have a ginormous screen. 30fps to 60fps on a fast paced game, however, is much more noticeable.
Sonic Team made the right choice here.

the 3ds version looks fine, were some people expecting it to look as good as the console version? cause if so thats a bit crazy

I was just about to buy Pikmin 3 this morning, but now I'm thinking I'll save my money and pick this up instead...

Not to mention not everyone even has a 1080 tv.

Out of the 3 HD tv's in our house, only 1 goes up to 1080.  The rest are only 720.  The tv my game systems are on is only 720.

so Wii U version for me

Between the amount of games that are coming out on the wiiU and 3ds... My wallet is crying right now

Sigh... added to my buy list T_T (WiiU version that is)

I had already changed my mind and decided to get the Wii U version so the system has some games once I get around to buying on, and this has only solidified that decision! As said already, 60fps is really good for a fast paced game like this.

Its 720p eh? Guess its due to all the high res textures they're using. (they're rather simplistic though lol.Blends together well.
