AMD or nVidia

Geforce 4 MX440 > 8600GT > GTX 460 > 660 here.

Before the 660, I bought a 7950 but had to return that. Dunno how XFX thought that card was acceptable (1 fan only), it's like I had turned on a vacuum cleaner.

Where I live, nVidia cards have the best discounts. I had to choose between a 660 and a 7850 1GB.

Also, hackintoshes are easier with nVidia.

AMD used to be terrible with their Linux support (and AFAIK they had driver issues even on Windows), so that's when I sided with NVIDIA. These days, I kind of support AMD more but apparently not enough, because I still answered NVIDIA. I really hope AMD stays in the business, though, because monopolies aren't a good thing.

AMD, no question about that.

I have bought probably the same number of cards from each company.

For a long time I was solidly in the AMD/ATI camp. But I absolutely HATE Catalyst drivers and have stayed away from ATI for my last 3 upgrade cycles.

Currently rocking 2 x GTX470s and love 'em. But fuck if they arent the hottest damn things I have ever run.

I will be upgrading soon but I have not made a decision on what I am going to get. I have plenty of good friends with great experiences with new Radeon Cards, but man it is hard to get past my hatred for Catalyst drivers.

Tho I will say...3dfx Voodoo for life baby! Nothing will ever come close to how much I loved those cards (The company royally fucked up but thats a different story for a different time)

I used to use both and I still use both so uh...... yeah

8800 GT>HD 4850>HD 6950> HD 7950> Xfire

The only card that died on me was a PNY 8800 GT XLR or something like that. It performed superb while it lasted(2,5 years). I changed sides to ATI/AMD and so far so good, very happy with all of them, 3 Sapphire cards always overclocked mining bitcoin all day on air, I traded my 6950 for a faulty ASUS 7950 DCUII(1st batch got heatsink problems) changed the heatsink to an Arctic xtreme and xfire it with a sapphire 7950 dual x. Maxing every game so far(my monitor is 1080p lol).

I keep an open mind so I could change again if Nvidia offers a good performance/value card but for the time being AMD offers the better deals on my budget segment.

Note: I never had driver issues with any of my cards, not even on Xfire, I just wait for stable releases and only go beta if the performance gain is very good(not very often usually)

AMD 4-life.

I'm happy PS4 chose AMD this time around.

It wasn't as simple as that, actually. Sony went to nVidia first.

I have heard that but never seen it backed up except for Nvidia saying they didn't want it , but i did hear Cerny say that when they finally decided to go for an x86  APU   rather than an enhanced Cell + GPU  AMD ticked all the boxes for what was needed< also Robinson from AMD said  at the GDC that Sony skipped over Nvidia and went sraight to AMD for the PS4 .

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Lol, I know, I know, your AMD. I believe we've even debated this a time or two!

Voted Red then.

Based on the vote totals though i can't help but wonder what the vote totals would look like if nobody knew who's gpu was in the PS4....

I seem to recall the reaction to my AMD prefrence from other people who liked AMD more or less matchd the reactions from other fans of Ogre battle, Front Mission and Robotrek when i first posted it.

And that was back when AMD was in a much stronger position.

The Poll also doesn't mimic real-life sales either. :P
Should be rather interesting to see if AMD picks up steam in the sales department thanks to the next generation consoles.
