Multiparty (proportional representation)> two party system (winner takes all).

However, I am to the point where all parties should be abolished. A person that only votes for one party is a lazy voter. They do little to no research on candidates and there is even a button to click on now (only voted once in my life and never again) to select vote for all candidates of one party. Get rid of the fucking parties. Do campaign finance reform by only allowing a certain amount of public money for election (no private money, no political TV ads, only debates). Fuck this current system. 

Something is obviously wrong when Congress approval rating is near 10% yet over 90% of incumbents are re-elected.  USA political system is broken.

What gave you that idea?

That's kind of my problem, though. You have to take classes to understand it. If we made study of the constitution part of the core curriculum, that might help.

As it stands, the system is solid, if everyone is being honest. But it has too many opportunities for politicians to exploit it, and those holes are unlikely to be updated while the people who use them still hold office.

Oh no. That was referring to things like pork spending and convoluted regulations. Things that get stuffed into unrelated bills, and the like.

There's kind of the problem; the people best able to recognize the flaws of the current system are the ones controlling it, and they largely like it fine the way it is. Giving them the chance to remake it would be a bad idea. 

The biggest issue is that our constitution is too broad; the specifics were never filled in because the founders couldn't see the future and know how the system would be abused, or how technology would render much of it obsolete. If they knew that something like our current crisis was likely to happen, they probably would have taken steps to prevent it.

And amendments could definitely fix many of these issues, if we could trust congress to perform open-heart surgery on itself...

Nah what they need in the VS is multipolarity and not just two big parties. Belgium is a great example of multipolarity

It's the political system in America that needs to change. The constitution and bill of rights are fine but just need to be updated to deal with stuff like digital rights.

Going back to the political system, it needs to embrace Proportional representation. The electoral college is one of the most bullshit systems ever. PR would at least allow people to change the political landscape than be stuck with 2 of the same. I know the US is a big country but it needs to represent better
