Well this story has been in the news for almost a week now. Im not sure how many of you are aware of it but it took place last sunday in new york.

Alex Lien, the Director of Skrill.com was on a sunday drive with his wife and 2yo daughter. It was their one year wedding anniversary.  At the same time, a motorcycle stunt group called hollywood stuntz was holding a relatively illegal ride into times square.  These rides include stunts in traffic, running red lights, driving on the wrong side of the road and on the sidewalk.  There were hundreds of riders that day.

The events leading emediatly up to the next footage is unclear, but at some how this motorcycle group came upon the family in their range rover.  Whats next is completly wild.

One of the bikers, christopher Cruz swerves his bike infront of the SUV, looks behind him and does what is called a "brake check".   The bike and SUV make slight contact, and the SUV pulls over to the side of the road.  Mr. Cruz doesnt fall off bike in the accident and stops, slowly walking his bike back towards the SUV.  In the video it is hard to tell what is going on but the bikers surround the vehicle. police say several bikers began to hit the vehicle, smashing the mirrors and tires may have been slashed(it may have happened later so its unclear).  It is said someone reached for the door handle and tried to open the door.  The family inside was scared for their lives.  Mr. Lien made the decision to try and protect his family, hitting the gas to speed away.  IN doing so he ran over atleast 1 biker who is now paralyzed from the waste down.  The paralyzed biker and his family have hired celebrity attorney Gloria Allred.

The bikers chase off after the SUV, which leads to a 6mile high speed chase.  all caught on Helmet cam.  The SUV eventually has to stop when it comes to a traffic light.  The bikers hop off their bikes, and proceed to smash in windows.  Mr. Lien is pulled from the vehicle, and beaten in the street with his face and chest slashed.  Witnesses say a biker tried to go after his wife and daughter aswell, but a man with balls of steel stepped in and told them to leave her alone.  He then told them all do stop and stood in there way.  after they exchanged words the bikers fled the scene.

The Lien family called 911 a total of 4 times during the ordeal, and the motorcycle ride to times square itself managed to get over 200  911complaints.  A large investigation is underway, with only Mr. Cruz being charged with anything so far.  Several bikers have turned themselves in, and police have executed warrants to try and optain footage for the MANY helmet cams recording everything.

It is worth noting that the Bikers insist the family in the SUV was driving aggressive, and they were simply trying to slow him down.

With alot to discus and probably alot more information that hasnt come out yet,  I pose a simple question.  If placed in Mr. Lien's shoes,  What would you have done?  Would you have waited at the first scene hoping they leave you alone and cops come? or would you have hit the gas and peeled outta there, people in your way be damned?

I've got a wife and daughter in the back? If i feel like my family is threatened I will run them over no questions asked.

"It is worth noting that the Bikers insist the family in the SUV was driving aggressive, and they were simply trying to slow him down."

How are they in any position to accuse someone of driving aggressively? They are running around time square doing illegal stunts and acting like jack asses. They don't own the road, but judging from the footage it looks like that was how they were acting.

I don't know what I'd do... I honestly can't put myself in that position.
But I will say that's a disgusting story. I just wish he brake checked in front of a semi instead.

To top it all off, it's now reported that there were at least 5 off duty cops participating in this biker ride, and not a single one did anything, or even reported the fact they witnessed it until days later. What a mess...

I probably would have ran them over too.

i don't know exactly what took place right after the brake check. In any case, the bikers shouldn't have impeded the drivers path. If it was me in the car I would have pulled away slowly and gently, and not stopped in the first place.

For me, I have zero question that i would have gotten out of there. I would have done whatever i had to to protect my children and family. Even if that meant throwing into reverse when i came up to that traffic. im sure anyone with kids understands what I mean, when your family is in danger, Your mind will set on whatever you have to do to protect them.

if you click the first link and watch the last video at 1:15 you see what they did with someone else and his car. pretty much shows what kind of guys that are and since they did probably worse stuff when they stopped the car of the family i would have done the same as guy in the car. there is no time to wait and see if they will do more to you and your family or if they "only" break your side mirror and scratch your car or something like that.

if there are like 50 bikers which seem to be very aggressive around me i would do even the same without my family in my car and if some of them get injured it's their problem to be asshats to everyone else on the street

Someone may have handled things differently but the driver of the SUV was totally justified.
